Organs of our body awaits for directions from the brain for their next move. The transmission of signals through the nervous system, it is reported, requires the participation of sugar molecules in some forms or the other. The lack of this vital substance, therefore, contributes to the delay in the speed of the brain receiving the signals and its functioning leading to Dementia/Alzheimer.
Doctors’ advice to Type 1 or Type 2 patients have always been to avoid sucrose, our regular sugar. The carbohydrates we consume in various forms are all ‘some form of sugar’ with varying time for conversion into glucose ultimately.
While we, the Types 1 and 2 are under continuous medications for regulating our sugar levels in our system, should not also be allowed to consume sugar to avoid the deficiency our brains are exposed to due to forced deprivation of sugar from our regular diets?

Not a bad idea. Aged people normally do not show high level of glucose in blood, as I observed with many known persons. Try with half teaspoon sugar in tea for 15 days and check sugar level. This is to be monitored regularly.Taking fruits is the best way to consume sugar.
Since of late, I started adding a small amount of sugar (as I used to in my old days before switching on to strict avoidance of it after diagnosed with Type 2, in 1997) and I find my memory is improving with no imbalance in my sugar level.
The major problem I was confronted with was remembering the names of very much known persons. While conversing, you can visualize the persons face and all other aspects of the individual BUT the name is impossible to remember.
This was a very serious issue for over 2 years. Now I find it is coming back slowly after adding a little sugar… with no adverse sugar level.
What type of sugar, ? from fruits? carbohydrates? or locally produced sugar? or refined sugar? Local honey? Coconut sugar?
What is the difference to your HbA1c number.?
At 76 memory is a problem for me!!, I am now using honey for breakfast. No sugar in coffee or tea. Sugar from carbohydrate, home cooked food rice based.
