Ryeqo and Mirena dilemma

I've had the Mirena coil for four years, initially inserted before my laparoscopy and endometriosis diagnosis. I tried the mini-pill but had to stop after just two months due to severe depression and exhaustion. Recently, I've been experiencing endo flare-ups, which has forced me to reconsider my options. My doctor offered me the chance to try Ryeqo, but I would need to remove the coil first.

Is trying Ryeqo worth it, or should I stick with the Mirena? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

P.S. If Ryeqo doesn't work well for me, I won't be considering the Mirena coil again.

Hi there,

I’ve been on Ryeqo for almost three months now and have unfortunately not seen any difference. In fact it’s actually been affecting my antidepressants (Sertaline). I’m going back to see my consultant tomorrow but unfortunately I think I have now exhausted every opportunity and am now going to have to get the Mirena coil just so I can say I’ve tried everything.

If you do go onto ryeqo please monitor your depression as someone on here shared this link with me :

This is just my experience but I hope it helps

Hi Pinkhedgehog24,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I truly appreciate it. I feel like I'm in a similar position, trying all available options and running out of them. I'm also aware of the mental and physical side effects that can come with taking hormones. Thank you for sending the link; it was very helpful.

I’ve got the mirena coil alongside taking Ryeqo which was prescribed by the doctor and Endometriosis clinic, did they say why you need to have the coil removed?

Dear Hol 752,

Thank you for your message.

It is strongly advised that you remove Coil before starting on Ryeqo, as these two methods cannot be taken together due to their contradicting effects. This information is clearly outlined in the guidelines and the leaflet for this medication.

Please take this advice seriously for your health and safety.
