Immunotherapy 2 year limit
Hi everyone, My partner was diagnosed with stage 4 nsclc in October 2015. After unsuccessful treatment with chemotherapy she was referred to palliative care by her previous consultant. I went private to get a second opinion and found a great consultant who enrolled her on a early access to medicine

I AM ON STUDY TRANSPLANT LIST
I signed up at my Transplant Hospital to be one of the study participants in the hep C+ deceased kidney transplant recipients. The transplant doctor said it could be three days or 70 days until I receive a kidney, but it will not be waiting four more years on the Wait List. I was put on the Wait List

Dialysis/transplant advice
Hi Everyone, I'm new here. I was just told I need dialysis and to be put on a kidney transplant list, but I'm not feeling any pain or fatigue. I had kidney failure 22 years ago due to massive kidney stones in both kidneys. I know by blood pressure needs to be controlled, but I've been on a safer

Advice please
I was diagnosed with lung cancer last spring. There are also two secondaries. I have had 10 chemo sessions. Decided to give up for a bit because of side effects. Anyone tried alternative medication? I wonder about apricot kernels. The hospital will continue to monitor me with scans. Just looking for

Turned Down By USC!!!
I am beyond frustrated and upset! Well, my case was being presented at USC yesterday before the Review Board and I’ve been sitting on pins and needles for 2 weeks. My Coordinator said she’d call me next week with the results. But INSTEAD, she called in the afternoon to tell me they are DECLINING me

Has anyone been a live Liver Donor for their son or daughter with liver disease?
My son has PFIC Type 2 and we tried every type of medication available to him however none have been successful so on his 3rd birthday he has been put on the liver transplant waiting list and i am considering being assessed to be a donor for him. Any experience similar to this and comments would be greatly

Dietary Restrictions to Prolong the Life of a Kidney Transplant
It has been found that if patients substitute soya or some vegetable source for the animal proteins they normally eat and severely restrict the amount of salt they normally consume they can significantly slow the decline of renal transplants. From personal experience I can say that such a diet really

Update and Best Wishes
Have just got out of hospital after three days of methylprednisolone infusions. The idea was to bring me into hospital and give me a boost so I could go on a holiday. Just as well I went in because it coincided with a fairly bad attack, so hopefully I’ll be OK now for a month or so. Mid February

Papworth Duck Pond
The old Papworth hospital was famous for its duck pond. It is rumoured that heart transplant patients were ready to go home when they could do a lap of the pond I have not seen the new Papworth and was wondering if the landscaping included a duck pond? 🦆

Post transplant tacrolimus doses
Just curious - husband had liver transplant 2014 and came home on 8mg which was reduced to 5mg and has since been taking the same amount of Advagraf - so 5 years later he is still on 5mg 🤔🤔🤔 his last bloods said it was below target range (4-10 I think) 🤷♀️ - has anyone else experienced this ????

In this report, the authors compare levels of 40 cytokines and chemokines in non-small cell lung cancer, mesothelioma and benign pleural effusions, with the goal of identifying druggable targets and interventions that can change the pleural environment from one that suppresses immunity and promotes tumor

Discouraged
I am new to this section. I have been involved with the lung cancer. I had lung surgery 6 years ago. Last summer I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I had surgery, then chemo. Just 3 months after finishing, my cea levels went up. A scan revealed involvement of 3 lymph nodes. I was started on Keytruda

PBC Name Change
Some are asking why we “no” longer use the name Primary Biliary Cirrhosis for PBC. As most of you know, the name Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC) was very deceiving and carried a stigma with its diagnosis. For years PBC wasn't diagnosed until late disease stage and the patient had developed cirrhosis
