Struggling with flare up
Since last Wednesday my asthma has flared up. I have been taking regular reliever (mart regime fostair 100/6)every 4 hrs. I have had tight chest and peak flow dropped to 350/500. Although I not making my top peak flow as my lungs are still healing from pneumonia. Now I woke up with soreness in my diaphragm

Alternatives to sugar
Hello, as some of you know from my DD posts, I've recently cut out added sugar in my diet. I do still eat things with natural sugar like fruit, but as I also follow a low carb diet they tend to be berries, which are lower in sugar anyway.Recently I've been wondering what to use instead of chocolate for

Baseline figure from lung function test
After 10 days post hospital admission with pneumonia I went to have a lung function test at my local hospital. The result of the test was 438 a new baseline. My usual top peak flow is 500 (very unused as it doesn't match my height, sex and ethnicity) I should be blowing 420. One explanation was that

change in IBS symptoms
Hi I am totally confused and a bit bewildered. So I have had IBS with terrible bouts of diarrhoea for over three years. During which time I definitely had trigger foods which made it a lot worse. Going on a gluten free diet seemed to help slightly as did a fructan free diet. Also low fodmap. But didn

low back problems
I've been on Eligard and abiraterone+prednisone for slightly more than a year, out of a planned 2 years. I had 44 sessions of proton beam therapy ending 4/7/23. My PSA has been undetectable since early in my ADT regimen, and remained so as recently as 2 weeks ago. I began to have low back pain, sometimes

IMPROVEMENT!
After nearly two years of waiting, I finally got to see a consultant! He gave me various tests and blood tests and came to the conclusion that it's not my bronchiectasis that's the problem, it's my asthma. I'm now taking a Seretide 250 inhaler and feeling a whole lot better. Although still not brilliant

Bronchiectasis and unrelated antibiotics
Yesterday I had dental surgery to extract a molar because it was fractured ( could that be due to many many events with prednison???), and now I am on antibiotics amoxicilin. Dentist says 6 days or so. In general my peak flow always increases with antibiotics for other reasons (dental, urinary), but

Low Carb, High Fat - Well That Didn't Work Did It!
Many of you will know that I have been a Type 1 diabetic since the 1960s. Besides this site I keep a watching brief on a few diabetes sites. One thing being very much pushed is a low carb, high fat (LCHF) diet. Claims include that it achieves better diabetic ciontrol and despite being high in saturated

New to biologics - don't feel particularly well.
Evening all. Hope everyone is managing ok in this cold weather 🥶. So in the last 2 weeks I've had to take rescue doses for my adrenal insufficiency, had 2 emergency hydrocortisone injections (each one administered by work colleagues a week apart) as not caught early enough and generally felt off.

Nucala
On Friday I'm due to have my 6th Nucala injection. The first 3 have been amazing. I felt a new person after battling with Eosinophilic Asthma. After my 4th & 5th I have not felt quite so good and now 'doubt' is beginning to creep in. I notice occasional back pain and aching in some joints. My Peak

Albumin
New paper below [1]. About 18 years ago, a man who headed a PCa group in CA told me to forget PCa-related markers - the best indicator that a man wouldn't be around in 6 months was albumin. My albumin had been 3.9 at diagnosis. I worked to reduce sub-clinical inflammation via polyphenols (inhibitors
