Hubby recently diagnosed but virtually at the end stage
Hi there. I’m not sure where to start. So my hubby was diagnosed with non alcoholic liver cirrhosis and spent 3 weeks in hospital. Half on ICU where I work and then half on the liver ward. Despite being on diagnosed 4 weeks ago he is quite far down the line of the condition. Jaundice ascities sepsis

nhs job scared colleagues will find out I have cirrhosis.
hi . I’m becoming more and more worried that once I’m called for my first surveillance of my chirrhosis that I’ll know the doctor and people there as I k ow a lot of the staff in the hospital. I’m wondering if there’s any way I could ask for my scans elsewhere? Tia

Green poo - any connection with Liver disease
Hi All. Will keep it brief. Ended up in hospital last year due to my alcohol consumption (heavy for years, daily for the last 3). Borderline cirrhosis. Lost my job Stayed sober well into this year but stress of not getting a new job and debt recently drove me to relapse. It was a heavy one - horrendous

Just found out I need a kidney transplant
Hello, I just found out I need a kidney transplant. I developed kidney disease from taking a medicine that scarred and damaged my kidneys and they’ve just gotten worse and worse. After a biopsy, we discovered that my kidneys are even worse than the numbers show. I am so overwhelmed. My mom could possibly

Long time on wait list
Hoping to hear from people who waited a long time for a
liver
transplant
. Husband has been on the list for 15 months now, and I'm not sure either of us can stand this much longer.

Change in body shape post transplant
I am now 10m post transplant, and all going well. Not perfect, but well. I find my body shape has changed a lot, I am much more bulky in my upper abdomen, above my navel to chest. I expected some swelling while my body got to terms with the new liver, but even after this time, I just seem so BIG

Home Oxygen is a game changer
Afternoon all! Mindful that it has been a fair while since my last post - much longer than intended. However, in many ways it's a good thing as it means I've got more to update you all on. First and foremost, I'm still on the lung transplant list and have yet to get another call since being re-added

Hi all I was diagnosed a while ago with “possible borderline cirrhosis” through an ultrasound, blood tests and a fibroscan score of 20. The bloods are all normal and the consultant just says it’s hard to tell if I definitely have cirrhosis or not. My question is, I keep reading here that people are

Hi all!
Hi Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (was told 3 years ago it was unclassified, they were leaning more towards Crohns at the time) Since the beginning of that diagnosis, I had high liver function test results which were very high during my IBD flare ups, things

Just wanted to share this in case this is of interest or of any help to anyone here. Elevated creatinine from tacrolimus?
I am 19 months out from my kidney transplant from a deceased donor. Was doing well and my creatinine was actually within the normal range at about a year post transplant. However, since then my creatinine has been creeping up and now is 1.74. Have tried lowering my protein intake, and more hydration

Kidney Transplant help
Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday. I got a call from a gentleman who’s been trying to test as a living donor for me. Mayo Clinic has approved him. We are so excited, grateful, thankful, humbled and yet nervous at the same time. ****Can anyone tell me what they have experienced

Ammonia Level
Hello! I am writing to ask about ammonia level 104. My family member has cirrhosis and previous Hep C. Currently they are in the hospital due to elevated ammonia levels. When the ammonia level rises it causes extreme impairment and lethargy. Two weeks ago they had scan of liver and it came back nothing

Confused and stressed
Had an appointment with liver nurse last night after the beta blockers fiasco last week! She had spoken to the specialist whom l still have yet to meet and said they are not an option for my varices suggested l undertake a soft food diet. Feeling bolder about asking questions l said what is that. She

Liver Transplant consent letter & liver types
hi, my partner has just been accepted onto the transplant list with a UKELD of 56 and blood group A (this is relevant as have been told the wait for this group is shorter). He has just had the consent form and agonised for ages over which boxes to tick in terms of what livers to accept. It seems so ungrateful
