platelet

I have liver cirrhosis and currently have no symptoms I wondered if anyone had any advise on how to improve platelet count I’ve just had blood results and they have dropped from 98 to now 88 doctor wants me to have another blood test in 6 weeks has anyone experienced this and managed to increase them

No alcohol, exercise, foods high in vitamin c and k. So dark greens (spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, romaine lettuce) and citrus fruits.

Thank you for your reply I don’t drink alcohol and so I will look at increasing exercise and my veg and fruit intake. I go swimming 3/4 times a week but will look at other exercises perhaps walking more.

I am NOT a doctor but online I have read that making sure you have enough Vitamin K in your diet is important. But again, I am NOT a doctor.

Yes, walking is good.

A vitamin c supplement is good too, especially since it can be difficult to get enough through diet.

b-12 is good too. Protein- lean meat and eggs.

Nothing can improve platelets with liver disease, they will go up and down, and in some countries doctors will give platelets but that depend on how low they are at the time, some ppl have them at 50. Please talk to your doctor before taking vitamin K as mentioned, it can further cause clotting problems which you probably already have (INR), usually the lower the platelets the higher your INR (clotting)

Look up papaya leaf supplements...apparently good for increasing platelet count
