Fatty Liver
Hello everyone. A haematologist rang me yesterday and said I have a macrocytosis with no anaemia. My red blood cells are too large. She wants further blood tests and a liver scan. She mentioned fatty liver. I am concerned as I already have a liver enzyme not working now this. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Fibrosis result confusion
Hi all, I have been a lurker on this wonderful forum for about 61/2 years when I was diagnosed with alcohol related disease. Only symptoms were ascites and weight loss, about 3st. 8 litres were drained from abdomen at that time and I have never had any liquid build up since then. I am completely compensated

Letter from Heptologist
HelloI had a letter from the consultant to say my recent fibroscan results indicates no evidence of liver disease and they would be discharging me. I had had a BLT fibroscan back in spring which was almost 12 and my GP referred me to heptology. Sadly during this appointment last month I never actually

Hepatologist called my liver 'recompensated'
On my last visit to clinic, my specialist said 'well done with your recompensated liver'. Anyone else had such a positive diagnosis said by their specialist? I haven't found it anywhere online. I've not had any alcohol in three and half years, since I suffered a liver failure, yellow skin, fainting,

Elective C Section once in Labour
I’m booked for an elective C Section at end of week 39. Now on week 38. I’m having second thoughts about the C Section, particularly what happens if the baby comes early - either water break or contractions start. I’d always thought I’d then ask for an emergency C section (my consultant has approved

Cirrhosis ? .
Im getting really worried. Ive been heavily drinking for the past 4 years. I have been drinking on average 3 nights a week probably around 35cl of vodka plus couple glasses of wine. My bowels have been bad for a couple of years. Strettorhea I think it's called. Recently, been getting intense itching

Liver enzymes continue to rise
Good day to all. I am new to this very informative sight and appreciate any comments. Firstly I am a former heavy drinker in my early 60’s who completely quit alcohol one year ago. In this year time frame my ALT/AST numbers have doubled from 68/50 to 118/82 and my GGT has gone up from 183 to 233. Every

Iron levels during pregnancy
At 28 weeks I had my bloods taken by a stand in MW. At my 31 weeks appointment I was told I should have been contacted as my iron levels were low and put on iron tablets. I'm now 35 weeks and they're still under 100. I'm going to have an iron drip today. Just wondered if any of you have had issues with

hi all, My GP isn’t the most proactive so I find I need to push a little at times. I’m looking here to see if I should be concerned and push my doctor for further testing? recently I had my yearly physical, and also had an ultrasound which showed fatty liver. Liver function tests were normal, but

Bruising, HE and Itching
I’m newly diagnosed with cirrhosis from NAFLD and trying to sort all this out. What causes bruising? I have normal platelets, albumin and INR. Why do I have bruises in odd places? They’re in areas where I know can’t be from bumping into something. Another thing I have is brain fog and insomnia,

HE and Variceal Bleed
I last posted 2 years ago after being concerned for my mom and her drinking. She was diagnosed with cirrhosis and has now been alcohol free for just over 2 years. She has had 2 variceal bleeds in the last 4 months, both times being found by her partner covered in blood and within a few weeks of seeing

Supplements - are they worth trying for liver disease?
Has anyone with fibrosis or cirrhosis had any improvement from supplements? Just wondering if it’s worth trying any natural supplements since there are no pharmaceuticals to treat cirrhosis.

Why can nobody give me an answer ?
Hi, I am 67 years old and have primary
Liver
Cancer. At the beginning I was told that
resection
& transplant were no applicable and was put on Immunotherapy which seems to suit me OK so 114 cycles down the line I still get a pain that is not Diverticulosis in my LHS.

just wanted to share the latest. You remember when I last posted I was going to Dallas for an mri/mre after a different hepatologist did a fibroscan and said stage 4 fibrosis. My regular hepatologist was in disagreement and sent me to Dallas. Radiology report said possible early cirrhosis. Scared me

Spider Nevi
Former drinker. So I have noticed some red blemishes on my upper back. They are small but are not going away. I can't really see any blood vessels branching out from the blemish. Does spider nevi due to cirrhosis usually occur on the back? I have about three of them. I had slightly high liver enzymes

Pain that worsens upon movement? And triggers longer episodes of pelvic pain if I’ve been lifting or especially walking anywhere.
So, just over 3 years ago, I had a tubo-ovarian abscess, which I was in hospital for around a week with… It’s likely that this may have been caused by the coil itself and a consequent infection. Managed conservatively at the time but after repeated infections and severe pain, I was finally offered surgery
