My life with an ileostomy from the start
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2002. It progressed quite quickly and by December 2005 I was virtually housebound because of incontinence. In March 2096 I haemorrhaged and was admitted to hospital. I was given high dose steroids for three weeks in an attempt to get the UC under control but

long term/maintenance antibiotics
Hello! So I had a dermatology cons today. Things seem to be getting very weird. Basically docs dont really know whats going on just that something is definately wrong (I suppose you could say Im in multiorgan failure but I wont let myself entertain that notion too much). So got the usual new dressing

Eye problems
I feel that my eyes are deteriorating. Some days my vision is a bit weird and things seem a bit fuzzy and have to wear glasses all the time other times my eyes are ok. It seems when I am tired and in a flare they get worse. I am not on the malaria tablets. Does anyone else get this?

Being given the run around with diagnosis and other gripes
Finally at age 46 I am beginning to make sense of the endless health problems I have had since childhood, and in particular teenage years. However from one medic to another with one complaint thrown in, (forced upon us by the local PCT so it could defend itself), has made my life for myself and family

Topic of the Month: March - Itchy Rashes

Hair condition
Put on preventer inhaler in Feb. Since then its as if my scalp is producing more oil than usual. I have white flakes beneath my hair and it feels for all the world like the cradle cap my children had as a baby. I'm loathe to go to the GP as a few years ago, I had a similar thing on my legs and was

Sunflowers and anti malaria properties
I've read recently by chance that the North Americans indians used to use sunflowers for medicinal purposes to protect against malaria . They also used the sunflower root for rhematism. Does anyone know of any research into this? Why we are given anti malaria drugs for Lupus ? There is some info in

Red Skin Syndrome and Topical Steroid Addiction
Many people have never heard of Red Skin Syndrome. in fact, it is a condition with many names: Steroid Rosacea, Perioral dermatitis, steroid rebound phenomenon and many more. The term "Red Skin Syndrome" was coined by Dr Marvin Rapaport MD, an American dematologist who has worked with many patients

MEN WITH GENITAL SYMPTOMS OUT THERE?
Hi, have had BD for at least ten years but only now getting genital symptoms. Can get cracked skin, sores and ulcers down there, which seems exacerbated by 'certain activity' involving the area. I have a steroid cream but am increasingly looking to avoid and 'activity'. Whole thing can get quite painful

Holiday tribulations
hi thought I'd share my holiday tribulations. We're in a lovely one storey cottage on the island of Arran. Everything carefully chosen so as not to cause problems, a fabulous view everything just wonderful. Including unfortunately for me, the weather! Now I know that the methotrexate makes me photosensitive
