Today marks the start of Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week (RAAW)
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) can strike at any age, despite common misconception, it is not just a condition that affects the elderly nor is it associated with ageing. We are kicking off RA Awareness Week with this video of Phil, Tony, Fiona and Alice who were all diagnosed with RA, their ages of diagnosis

Hip Replacement
Diagnosed GCA Jan 2018 tapered Pred down to,2mg. Suffered severe pain I thought due to withdrawal. Now diagnosed needing total hip replacement? No History of joint pain before Preds.Rheumy says I must have had osteoarthritis and not known it! But I think this must be due to the Preds?

Hello all- I think a lot about my conditions (Psoriatic Arthritis, Psoriatic Spondylitis and Fibromyalgia) & all the literature I read or people I talk to about Arthritis talk about a specific joint or isolated area where they hurt. It has me thinking a lot about my pain- I have joint pain, muscle

What is the next course of treatment if NONE of the RA medications work?
Anyone know what happens if after many many attempts of different RA medications such as Methotrexate, Humira, Enbrel, Xelzanze, infusions such as Acterma and Remicade do NOT work on me to combat endless inflammation & endless flares? I cannot stay on high does of Prednisone forever. That crap is already

Drug free management of arthritis
Hi, Is anyone managing arthritis without drugs? Using food and herbs? I want to know how often I should be seeing my rheumatologist as it seems they only keep an eye on you if they're prescribing. Should I go even if I feel well?

North East is Arthritis-free
It's a few years now since based on the membership of Arthritis Action that I concluded the North East of England is osteo-arthritis-free. I have just checked on the members near me facility and I am pleased to announce that this area is still clear as no members show at all in Arthritis Action. We

Root canal caused my RA
Had my root canal 11 years ago with no negative side effects. Eight months ago was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. It literally started overnight and had me bed ridden within a month. I took all prescribed medicine and changed my diet which helped my symptoms. I watched the program 'Root cause'

So what is #RAAW?
NRAS started a campaign in 2013 called RA Awareness Week (RAAW) to raise awareness of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and eliminate the many misconceptions, such as "I have a bit of that in my knee" or "Aren't you too young for that" by educating and informing the general population about RA. Last year

Is it safe to have a PET-scan with hypothyroidism (and diabetes type 1)?
Hi all, I've been suffering from deforming PIP and lately also DIP joints in my fingers. It started about 7 years ago, first very slowly, but getting worse last two years very quickly. I also have hypothyroidism for which I take levo and liothyronine, and diabetes type 1 treated with an insulin pump
