I suffer with osteoarthritis, Graves disease, Depression and anxiety. Feel so unwell. I feel sure I have fibromyalgia. Been back and forward to G P but when I asked if I could possibly have Fibro, he said what was the point of a diagnosis as nothing could be done. He did diagnose chronic pain syndrome. I feel I may be able to access support if I had fibr diagnosis. Any advice please.

Diagnosis
Sadly even with a Fibro diagnosis many of us are still dismissed, by doctors and health professionals in fact I get told that anything I have wrong with me is because of Fibro, and therefore I can’t be helped. Osteoarthritis I would have thought would be the most likely condition for u to get support with, perhaps the arthritis society could be of help xx
Thanks Kazhc. Over the years I have found that anything that isn’t easily diagnosed is put down to my mental health😡xx
Hi Vivvyy,
You may find this of interest:

Worth reading slowly & carefully ( - & ignoring the lengthy comments section).
Secondly, you may like to investigate the views of (the late) Dr John Lowe, who wrote the book 'The metabolic treatment of fibromyalgia', where he was helped by this approach ! This view and the (quite different) one in the above introductory article remain unfamiliar to our medical profession in the main, it seems.
All the best,
Sid ;~)

Thanks Sid. I will certainly try to have a read. Brain doesn’t seem to be taking much in at the moment.
Cheers
Sorry to hear about your less than helpful GP. I disagree with his comment that there's nothing that could be done so what's the point with the diagnosis. There are several treatment options that could be tried which although they are not a cure, may be able to help you manage your pain better. There are also various medications which you could try. Is there another GP at the practise who might be better than your current one? I would be pushing for a referral to a Rheumatologist if I were in your position.
I have been diagnosed with it and have to live with it like you but to get any help for it?? As others have said it is still not recognized as it should be no where near it ..unless you have suffered with it many wouldn't have a clue what it's like I do hope you find some respite soon xx
