Hyperosmia (heightened sense of smell) after op
It's now nearly 5 weeks since my valve replacement and bypass, and while I'm totally pain free (except when I breath in) my nausea and lack of appetite seems to be getting worse. I'm now thinking that this is due to hyperosmia (it's getting worse), which I've had since I came round from the op. I can

New blood results from Thriva.
I have had an increase in weight of 4kg, from 60kg to 64kg, during a period of 2 months. I am struggling to lose weight. I decided to have my blood tested to see if my thyroid is being properly managed. I have had an increase in weight and have constant fatigue. Can someone help me decipher the results

Surgery follow-up appointment
Hi all I had my surgery on the 30th of March, where they found four bits of endo. I did have stomach pains in my first month, but then I had an infection. From the second month after my surgery, I had stomach pains again, although it was at a lower intensity and frequency. Over the last couple of

Valve replacement
hellooo, I am 25 years old and due to have valve replacement surgery at some point (not sure when, just waiting for the right time) I have Truncus Arteriosus and had valve replacement surgery when I was a baby but haven’t needed one just yet since. My question is… I am currently always tired. Not

How does synthetic t4 convert to the active t3 after a thyroidectomy?
Is it the same place & way if one still has their thyroid? Ie. When you all note that hormones given replace the thyroid, not top it up if the thyroid is still in place, does it then not matter if one has a thyroid for this mechanism? (Not discussing taking anyone's thyroid without obvious dire need

Different Treatment Advice from Endocrinologist and Rheumatologist
Hello, I'm in my thirties and have osteoporosis. Earlier this year I saw an endocrinologist who advised I start HRT (my hormone levels are fine) and I have just seen a rheumatologist who advised I take alendronate. Neither can advise on the other. I wondered whether people had experience with either

New resource for osteoporosis information
I've posted before about my good results from the OsteoStrong program. Here is another resource that I have found very helpful for information on HRT and osteoporosis supplements. Dr. Doug Lucas also has a YouTube channel. It might be helpful for someone in this community. https://www.optimalbonehealth.com

Irritability on levo dose increase?
Hello all, I'm about 4 weeks in to a dose increase of levo from 100 to 125mcg. I'm familiar with a surge in 'wired and frantic' energy when I've reached about the 3 week point on a new higher dose in the past. And I had that a few days ago. It had settled. However today I've been increasingly irritable

Nausea after valve replacement and bypass
Had my mitral valve replaced and a bypass 4 weeks ago now, and have been home 3 weeks. Suffered nausea and lack of appetite from day 1 out of surgery, and aches and pains until this weekend - miraculously they all seem to have gone away. However the nausea seems to actually be getting worse, took me

I'm aware SOME women have rls during this transition but I'm also aware HRT is a stimulant and can cause a spike . As we already struggle surely hrt will

Hip replacement
Hello I think I have to have a hip replacement. I find it hard with polymyalgia to move my legs without stiffness even with the steroids. So I'm wondering if anyone has had a new hip whilst suffering and how it affects recovery with exercises? Any advice welcome. Thanks

Requip and Collagen
I have been taking Requip for several years and started taking Collagen last year as I had come off HRTand my hair and nails were in a terrible condition. I seem to remember seeing that taking both was not advised, is that correct? I have gone back on HRT but it has not made any difference.

lactose intolerance and vaginal oestrogen Vagirux?
Hi I’m awaiting a genetics decision on whether I can try HRT (again). Long story. In the meantime the most uncomfortable symptom is vaginal dryness. So my GP menopause specialist has prescribed Vagirux. I’m lactose intolerant, tried 1 tablet last night and was fine first thing this morning. I have

Hormone Replacement for Surgical Menopause
Hi dear ladies, have any of you used HRT to cope with the horrors of surgical menopause resulting from OC treatment, if that diagnosis happened to you prior to natural menopause? I find that there’s no discussion or warning about the effects of surgical menopause prior to treatment and that no one seems
