Isosorbide mononitrate

At review last week, the consultant advised that because of that experience, calcium channel blockers are a no no and he has now prescribed isosorbide mononitrate 30mg to be taken at night.

Apparently there is a world shortage of ISMN. She has prescribed me an alternative. I don't believe any one on this medication should go into panic

I have been prescribed isosorbide mononitrate 25mg for angina symptoms. I have heart failure and AF. Would like to hear what experience you have with this drug. Early days but have a headache which my cardiologist says is common but subsides with longer use. I hope so.

My chemist is having problems getting my prescription for isosorbide mononitrate. I may have to take a different drug that does the same. It appears there are several and I was wondering what experiences you have had. I look forward to your experiences and views.

I'm on 10mg of isosorbide mononitrate and I am beyond exhausted. I've been on it for 1 week now and am struggling to function. Pharmacist advised it can take up to 2 weeks for your body to get used to it. Has anyone else experienced this, and does it get better?

HiI'm on Isosorbide 40mg twice a day, I have been taking one at 6:45Am and the other at 17:30 pm is this the correct way to space them out?

I'm after some information please. I take the above meds but now my chemist is having problems due to company closure. So now I'm having to take 10mg x 3 twice a day. I'm seeing a GP on Friday and was wondering if any one takes a alternative and there experiences. As I'm going to request an alternative

I'm on quite a cocktail of drugs including Ranolozine, Amlodipine, Isosorbide Mononitrate, Metformin and Atorvastatin anyone else have a similar problem.

Currently I've been taking my GTN before I exercise or go out in the cold (I'm also on isosorbide mononitrate and nicorandil), but is there anything else anyone finds helps?

I could not tolerate Nicorandil so I was put on Isosorbide mononitrate which was also intolerable. I can only tolerate the Glycerol Trinitrate and recently have had to take it more frequently. My question is how much Glycerol Trinitrate can I safely take? Is once or twice a day okay?

After 2 weeks I was completely off it and was advised to wean off the Isosorbide Mononitrate. A further 2 weeks later I weaned off the Isosorbide Mononitrate but have been feeling odd since. I get a mild chest pain (not like I did initially) and a pain down my left arm and hand.

Hi, I've been taking Isosorbide Mononitrate (AKA Elantan 25mg) for about 5-6 weeks now. My cardiologist put me on them after getting angina 5 months after triple bypass (in March) and thinks it's microvascular blockages.

Hi I was taking Isosorbide mononitrate 50mg modified-release capsules until last week when the dose was increased to 60mg (starting to use GTN spray to counter chest pains) So up until this point everything is good.

I am currently on, Ezetimibe 10mg x 1 Isosorbide mononitrate 60mg x 1 Famotadine 20mg x 1 Tildiem retard 90mg x 2 Aspirin 75mg x 1 Rosuvastatin 5mg x 1 Amlodipine 5mg x 1 I have just been told to stop the Amlodipine as I had awful side affects.

I contacted the secretary of my consultant and consultant wrote to my GP suggesting adding Isosorbide Mononitrate 30MR. I went to see my GP to discuss this. I have low blood pressure and along with Bisoperol l take Topiramate for complex migraines which both lower my blood pressure even more.

After going on isosorbide mononitrate 85mg I’ve Been really well for nearly 5 months until 2 weeks ago when all the symptoms I was experiencing before going on medication came back. Soon as I do anything that raises my heart rate, from vacuuming to stacking shelves at work.

I fought hard to be seen again and to retain my isosorbide mononitrate, as I was still having symptoms and its effect had been *miraculous*. I didnt mind the headaches, I felt magically so much better, 10 years younger. Can that happen? Or rather, is that usual?

A cardiologist again increased meds, ranolazine and isosorbide mononitrate. This didn’t really help. Towards the end of February I was getting angina at rest not helped by GTN spray. 25th February I awoke with chest discomfort. I had 2 lots of spray.

Is there anything stronger for pain relief of headaches from isosorbide mononitrate? I’ve tried aspirin and paracetamol, but they haven’t helped much. Just wondering whether it is worth contacting specialist or not.
