Good morning/afternoon where ever you are in the world. Hope your all keeping well. Just wanted to pass on some information my GP informed me off yesterday. Apparently there is a world shortage of ISMN. She has prescribed me an alternative. I don't believe any one on this medication should go into panic mode. But maybe at your next appointment, it might be worth mentioning.🤗
Isosorbide mononitrate: Good morning... - British Heart Fou...
Isosorbide mononitrate

There has been a worldwide supply issue of many medications over the last few years.
My repeat prescription is written to allow my Pharmacist to source different manufacturers of my medications.
So far I have faced supply problems with Diltiazem, Nicorandil and one brand of Isosorbide mononitrate.
I have an extra supply of medication, arranged through my Cardiologist of all my medications, so hopefully won't run out.
I picked up my usual 3 month supply yesterday. As Milkfairy says, there are regular shortages of one drug or another, but they only tend to last a couple of weeks. Just make sure you put in your repeat prescription in plenty of time xx
Glad to hear your having no problems. The problem has been caused (apparently), due to the manufacturer closing there factory in Wales and moving to America. Also if I put my prescription in earlier they will not process.🤦 Have a good weekend.🤗
Wales to America? Good luck to them! No, seriously, I meant don't wait until you've nearly run out before putting in the prescription (I'm sure you don't, but I know some people who do). My GP will put it through up to about 9 or 10 days beforehand, so I try to get it in then. That then gives me at least a week if there are any problems - my new packs have staggered starting dates, but I've trained my GP to give me 3 months of everything in one go, so although my new Carvedilol will start next Friday, my current Isosorbide doesn't run out for another 2 or 3 weeks.
