I've been taking Isosorbide Mononitrate (AKA Elantan 25mg) for about 5-6 weeks now. My cardiologist put me on them after getting angina 5 months after triple bypass (in March) and thinks it's microvascular blockages.
Since I've been on it I've been experiencing what I can only describe as bone aches in my elbows, hip and rotator cuffs which seem to be getting worse. Along with that my skin has become very itchy all over, especially around my torso.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with it?
Thanks in advance,
KJB

Hi I take 30mg twice a day. The side effects that are more associated with Dizziness. Also they can cause Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible: Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. Headache, unusual weakness or fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, rapid heartbeat. You need to speak to your GP, who can give you the professional answer to your question.❤
No, I started on 30mg Monomil but I've now had at least two boxes of other tablets which have different names, but neither were called Elantan though. They are still Isosorbide Mononitrate and I am now up to 120mg without side effects. You could ask your GP, but I suspect that these different named tablets would all have the same side effects if they are all supposed to be the same stuff. The latest one I am that I am on is called Carmil. It's a shame if you have to stop them, because at 120mg, they did make a noticeable difference to my angina.
