Hi everyone, I have been diagnosed with either Angina or coronary artery spasms. I'm on 10mg of isosorbide mononitrate and I am beyond exhausted. I've been on it for 1 week now and am struggling to function. Pharmacist advised it can take up to 2 weeks for your body to get used to it. Has anyone else experienced this, and does it get better?

Exhaustion on isosorbide mononitrate

Hello,I live with vasospastic angina caused by coronary vasospasms.
When I first started taking isosorbide mononitrate many years ago, it took about 2 weeks before my headache and other symptoms subsided.
The usual treatment offered to treat coronary vasospasms are calcium channel blockers such as Diltiazem.
The BHF has this information about vasospastic angina and microvascular angina.

Vasospastic angina along with microvascular angina are types of angina/ ischaemia non obstructive coronary arteries ANOCA/INOCA.
Have you been offered any further tests to determine the cause of your symptoms?
Hi Milkfairy, thanks so much for your reply. Fingers crossed that my exhaustion will pass in the next few days. I've looked at the links you sent, very interesting. I have a stress test referral but no appt yet. Hoping that will provide some answers although looking at those links it may not be definitive. Hope you're feeling OK with your condition, Daisy211 x
I was prescibed isosorbide mononitrate as an alternative to extra bisoprolol but the headaches stopped me functioning at all (and were very painful). Due to fatigue possibly caused by bisop, I was considering going back on it (with medical supervision) and putting up with it for as long as it took. Your experience gives me pause for thought. Not very helpful to you, I'm afraid, but that info. helps me. Thanks.
When I was first diagnosed with angina, I was put on isosorbide mononitrate. Once the headaches and other side effects stopped after a couple of weeks, I was full of energy and felt great.
