Is there a difference between Collapsing Glomerulopathy and C3?
My son, 17, was just diagnosed with collapsing Glomerulopathy after having had a kidney transplant in June of 2020. My doctor told me there is no known cases of it happening in pediatric patients and my son is the youngest she knows of to ever have it. She explained to me that it usually happens either

Hello, After finding out my son had an unknown kidney disease and stage 4 failure in late September of 2018 we worked fast to try to find him a donor. Luckily we were able to find a donor and he had his transplant in June of 2020. He had one rejection episode just days after we came come from the hospital

Tocilizumab extension
Hi I wrote a couple of weeks ago asking if anyone had been told that their tocilizumab was being extended. I’ve heard nothing from rheumatology or G.P but today I’ve had a txt from the company that deliver the injections to say they are delivering early March. Not sure if it’s the normal 8 weeks supply

Sleeping kidney after transplant
Hi, My partner has just had a kidney transplant 6 days ago. He is 31 years old. He had 9% function before he received the kidney and wasn’t on dialysis beforehand. He’s in hospital and due to Covid he’s alone and I can’t go. He’s not great at talking to Doctors and I’m not getting any information. His

Liver Transplant
A question, and I know that everyone is different. How long does the pain, tightness and general uncomfortable feelings last after having a transplant? I know I’ve added to my malaise by developing an infection where my gallbladder used to be (removed during the transplant) but the pain is still bad

So....now an infection.
Had blood test tue, phone call from surgeon wed-go back for investigations as ALT elevated on blood results. He mentioned stents, liver rejection and told me not to worry. Pain is still absolutely hellish. So of course couldn’t sleep for worrying, even told my husband I need to go home to Scotland urgently

Stem Cell Transplantation at Mass General
I have posted about this particular stem cell transplantation at least twice before. I understand that it was a "pay for play" situation. I understand that it is an "N of 1" situation. I understand that "placebo effect" could be a factor. I understand that much broader studies may be necessary. With

A little bit of historical nonsense
Alcohol has become so inbred into our culture and I find the history of alcohol within our society rather interesting. It’s also fascinating to see just how times have changed over the years. Especially as more recently, the drinking of alcohol has become less sociable, and more self-indulgent due to

Just miserable...
I am in such pain following this liver transplant. Been home almost a week it’s nearly 3 wks since the operation. No let up in this goddamn awful pain. Plus I can’t sleep not even a wink. And now constipated. Eating dates, guzzling cosmocol , and feeling really really hellish. When does this ease off

ITCH and disillusionment
Hello. I'm in the UK. Waiting on an MRI to diagnose pbc for sure. ITCH is the worse thing. I dont know how people cope. Nothing helps. I'm 60 so relatively old, worry its the end for me as if I need a liver transplant I won't have it, as it would be too much at my age. I have a partner who is not supportive

Does anyone know anything about the use of deflazacort instead of prednisone for PMR?
Searching the web tonight for prednisone information, I came across deflazacort for the first time. It seems to have better characteristics in terms of less bone loss and other side effects. The article I found (link below) talks about kidney transplantation; does anyone know whether it is being used
