The Science of Immunotherapy
Despite a slightly misleading title, this book is a scientific account of the development and current state of
immunotherapy
and how recent discoveries came about. I'm going to try my library for it as the paperback is not out until next February : https://tinyurl.com/ycajfwg3

How long have I got
I was diagnosed two years ago and have been down the chemo,
immunotherapy
, Xgeva, Lupron, Zytiga road. I feel great other than tiredness but apparently my days are numbered. It’s hard to think in terms of the end when you don’t have symptoms but I guess the end is fairly close.

There was some interesting talk about trials that answered a lot of my questions and what is in the pipeline like
immunotherapy
. Also a lot about delays in diagnosis; we all know about that. Some of the information was far too scientific for me to understand!

An unusual case?
Immunotherapy
was mentioned but the CLL probably knocks that one on on the head?

Clinical Trial vs. Zytega
He has qualified for an
immunotherapy
clinical trial for which he will sign consent this week. Obviously, his cancer is aggressive. Here is my question- He has not yet tried Zytega. The doctor said it only has a 30-35% chance of helping since he became resistant to Xtandi.

My story - 16 years with metastatic prostate cancer - I’ve had just about everything
I was very lucky to be offered places on a couple of
immunotherapy
trials. However, I’ve decided to try radium 223 first. Olaparib makes your cancer less sensitive to gamma radiation, but this is alpha radiation, so we’ll see.

Improving on CAR -T therapy?
This is an interesting article on exploring the use of natural killer cells instead of T cells in
immunotherapy
. The advantage of the natural killer cells seems to be that they produce fewer serious side effects : https://tinyurl.com/y8uquwzr

After Abiraterone
I have been offered an
immunotherapy
phase 1A trial at the Royal Marsden (London), which sounds interesting but obviously holds no promises. I still have Chemo, Radiotherapy and other options in reserve, but the specialist are very keen at this stage to see how I respond to the trial.

Stage 3B Lung Cancer. What kind of results to expect after chemo
She is has never smoked and was negative for all the genetic markers. She has finished three rounds of chemo and IV
immunotherapy
and recently had a CT scan showing no change . According to the doctor this is still “ good news” considering the tumors have not gotten larger .

Following surgery I declined further chemo and instead went to Hope4Cancer in Cancun for
Immunotherapy
and a variety of excellent alternative treatments that helped to build my body up.

I have also been taken off the
immunotherapy
drug trial for Avelumab as it obviously wasn't working for me. I had finished chemo with NED at scan but blew up with ascites 3 months later so knew I had recurred before the scan and CA125 confirmed stranding and nodules in my abdomen.

16 years with metastatic prostate cancer - latest news
When I put up my last post, I expected the follow-up to be fairly straightforward - you know, radium 223 has worked a bit, but only a bit, and I’m moving onto something else/PSMA targeting/
immunotherapy
. But, that hasn’t really happened. The prostate cancer had other ideas.

Having cancer is exhausting...does it ever end?
I then was enrolled in a double blind clinical trial and received infusions of an
immunotherapy
drug (pretty sure it wasn’t placebo because I had all the neg side effects lol) and my tumor shrunk to just 2cms. I know that seems big for a tumor still but so much better than the original 🍋 lemon.
