I’m new here and just reaching out for any wisdom or enlightenment out there that may be helpful. I was diagnosed May 1st of 2017 at 56 years old with cancer and later learned it was high grade Ovarian cancer stage 4B and that I am BRAC 1 positive. Being inoperable and given 3 months to live by MD Anderson in Houston I submitted to 3 rounds (9 weeks) of Carbo Platinum and Taxol prior to surgery in Austin.

In mid September 2017 I had a 9 hour debulking surgery followed by complications and an 11 night hospital stay. I had a full hysterectomy and removal of my omentum, appendix, gall bladder as well as a 9” removal and resection of my sigmoid colon. 35 lymph nodes were removed from my colon resection (26) and from my abdomen (9).

Following surgery I declined further chemo and instead went to Hope4Cancer in Cancun for Immunotherapy and a variety of excellent alternative treatments that helped to build my body up. I was there for 3 weeks in October and felt great until the end of the year when I began to feel so ill with body aches all over! I had gotten the flu and my CA125 had risen to 12K (3K higher than ever) so I submitted to chemo again.

Since Jan. I had 7 more rounds (triple dose) of the same chemo blend every 3 weeks and had two terrible consecutive reactions to it in May so declined other types of chemo my Dr. wanted to “try out” which could offer me a 0-50% response.

I began a cannabis protocol at then end of May which has contributed greatly to my overall sense of well being and I have since had advanced blood testing done through a Greek Lab called RGCC which directed my new alternative Dr. to create a new rotating protocol for me that makes more sense than anything I’ve done thus far. It’s both complicated and expensive but incredibly revealing which allows their highly trained interpreters of the tests to target and monitor specific issues found in my blood and DNA against the many standard and alternative therapies they have most effective.

While waiting on RGCC results my CA 125 escalated dramatically, doubling every 8 days to over 1,718 in early August which was alarming. I learned it could possibly be a “cumulative” effect from the Immunotherapy injections (GcMAF) that I also had tested by RGCC and learned my body had become immune to it as well. I’ll get a new CA125 early this month to see how that number is being impacted.

Having an incomplete response to chemo and not yet achieving remission, I’ve learned that statistically cancer cells become immune to most every type of standard and alternative treatment so the rotating alternative therapies and quarterly testing through RGCC seems to be the most hopeful thing I’ve found to do as I continue to pray for a miracle and pursue a real CURE.

The thing that is puzzling to me at present is how to specifically alter my diet to best regulate insulin growth factors... IGF-r1 and IGF r-2. My new specialist tells me to embrace a strict Keto Diet (consuming 25 grams of carbs or less per day) but other experts suggest it could set me up for diabetes and may not be best to address my insulin factors while also considering that a likley auto immune disease of some type ? was apparently an undiagnosed issue prior to my diagnosis and could have either contributed to it or even caused it.

That’s too much information and certainly enough for now. I welcome divine insights and encourage ALL of us to be true warriors as we walk through this tender journey!

Welcome to this very supportive group

I’m in the U.K. so although I’ve looked at cannabis oil it’s illegal here and there is no way to get medical grade RSO so standard treatment is the way the vast majority of us uk ladies go!

I also looked at the ketodiet and did try it for a while but I found it very difficult and ended up with a recurrence anyway so now I eat what I fancy as I think life is too short to not enjoy your food! I do try to eat a balanced diet but I don’t restrict any food group and don’t feel guilty if I have a carb day!

I’ve stopped looking for things I might of done to cause my cancer I believe it’s just shitty luck or genetics and I don’t blame myself or anything I did or didn’t do. This change in my frantic search to change something in my lifestyle to stop my cancer has really liberated me and now I’m enjoying life as much as I can whilst having chemo and a clinical trial, I no longer have guilt that I did or didn’t do something wrong.

There are lots and lots of differing views to treatment and remission for OC but my view is you have to have faith in your treating team and trust they are doing all they can for you x

I hope you find the best regime for you and that it gets you into a remission

Keep us informed and let’s hope someone whether conventional or alternative comes up with something to beat this beastly disease soon xx
