Hi everyone, I'm looking for some optimism with my latest situation and hoping someone on this forum can help!
I have recurred just 3 months after finishing my first line of treatment - Carbo/Taxol which means I am 'platinum resistant'. I have also been taken off the immunotherapy drug trial for Avelumab as it obviously wasn't working for me. I had finished chemo with NED at scan but blew up with ascites 3 months later so knew I had recurred before the scan and CA125 confirmed stranding and nodules in my abdomen. I am due to start 2nd line chemo, Taxol, in September. I have clinic appointment this week so can get more questions asked then but in the meantime I am reading scary stuff about prognosis for platinum resistance after first line treatment.
Does anyone have survival experiences for platinum resistant disease to share that might give me more hope please?
Thanks.

Hi Lou I recurred 4 months after front line chemo of Carbo/taxol so am classed as plat resistant and am now most of the way through weekly taxol as part of the CEBOC trial at the Christie (number 14 of 18 on Tuesday)
Ive found the weekly taxol very doable and have remained in work throughout this chemo I’ve also done the cold cap so have kept my hair fortunately . I’m more fatigued these past few weeks but it’s manageable and my bloods have remained ok throughout thank goodness.
It’s scary having a recurrence but it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road!
My consultant also told me that they could still use a platinum based chemo in the future they just can’t use it within 6 months of the last lot x
Don’t worry there are lots of options open for you even if you’re classed as play resistant x
Thanks Beverly, good to know that the Taxol has been tolerable and that you have been able to stay in work. I'm aiming to continue at work and think I may ask about the cold cap this time. Good luck with the rest of your treatment.
I was pleased to read your post today as I am in a very similar situation. I finished my first line treatment in Sep and am waiting for a scan to confirm recurrance. It's a terribly frightening place to be isn't it? I hope your treatment is going well and look forward to sharing some posts with you.
