Hi all as you know I am at home recovering from my transplant, which is going well at the moment, I had been trying to get my prescription sorted out at my gp as we all know how important the immunosuppressant drugs are, well I have just found out my gp has basically dumped me, they told my hospital

NHS rapid policy statement on Tocilizumab for GCA during the Covid-19 pandemic
Hello everyone, and I hope you are all staying safe ( and sane) in these scary times. Forgive me if someone has already brought this to people’s attention, but I only just came across this important statement put out by the NHS which most certainly affects me, and could affect other GCA sufferers who

Immune response to Sars-Cov-2 following organ transplantation.
Even patients with suppressed immune systems can achieve a strong immune response to Sars-Cov-2. A test helps to adapt therapy following an infection. A research team from the University Hospital at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) has developed a test that provides information on the immune response

Urticarial vasculitis syndrome & hydroxychloroquine
Because I have a mannose binding lectin deficiency, an immune deficiency, I have been warned that they would not be keen to put me on
immunosuppressants
as my immune system is compomised and I get repeated shingles. I take valacyclovir daily to counter this. I have never been tried on steroids.

Great Summer !?@#$
Ok, so for most of us this summer has not been the greatest! I tell people everyday to be your own advocate, but because of COVID-19 there have been some complications in that thought. For me, March 31st I started to run a low-grade fever( up to 100.8). So, my nephrologist thought I had COVID for sure

Covid vaccines
If I’ve understood this correctly, live vaccines are not suitable for people taking
immunosuppressants
so not suitable for many lupus patients.

Psoriatic Arthritis: What Immunosuppressants Help to Control Both Psoriasis and Arthritis? I'm New Here. :-)
I was prescribed Humira for Psoriasis by my dermatologist and it worked for a while and then seemed to stop. Derm recommended more topical Triamcinolone and wait out the flare. My rheumatologist did blood work that showed I had developed an immunity to Humira and prescribed Enbrel for Psoriatic Arthritis

New Consultant advice please!
My consultant is currently saying that he does not believe that my symptoms are caused by Lupus and therefore not willing to try me on any type of
immunosuppressants
or any other treatment for my symptoms.

Has anyone been increased on Azathioprine? Did it help?
Hi all, i have been on Azathioprine 100mg for about a year now and I have been told that it doesn’t seem to be suppressing my neutrophil count. They have been hesitant to increase me as they said my weight 100mg is good for (i weigh 70kg due to high steroids but lets say im usually 60-65kg marker) but

Tattoos?
I have a couple of small tattoos that either need to be removed or covered up, but I’ve been told by a friend that DMARD treatment means most laser places and tattooists are likely to say no to working on me due to being immunosuppressed and a higher risk of infection, particularly as I’m currently on

Just recieved my most recent thyroid, Iron and Vitamin D tests. Before anyone comments about thyroid test (FT3 was not tested) can't get Endo to think it's relevant... "sigh"! For those who don't know me I've been thyroid-less (cancer) since 10/2016 and developed debilitating Psoriatic Arthritis

VEGF Inhibitors.
The list below is copied from a paper published last year [1]. As many might recall, untreated tumors outgrow their blood supply. Contrary to popular belief, cancer does not "hate" oxygen. Oxygen insufficiency (hypoxia) results in production of HIF-1alpha (hypoxia-inducible factor-1alpha), which triggers

How do you take your immunosuppressive meds?
Hi everyone. I'm wondering how everyone else take their medicines such as tacrolimus or cyclosporine..siroliumus etc? Do you take yours with an empty stomach or with food? I take 2mg tacrolimus and it has to be on an empty stomach 3 hrs before taking it and 1 hr after. Then, I can eat again. Just curious

Mom in ICU & depending on ventilator to breathe
Also she’s been on very strong
immunosuppressants
for her lupus. They’ve withheld those for the last two weeks to allow them to flush from her system and have her immune system kick in to help fight infections. I just don’t understand why they’re so impatient.

mom has been in the ICU for 6 weeks...doctors are discouraging.
After these findings, they started aggressive treatments for her lupus with a cocktail of
immunosuppressants
, but it was discovered that she also has a somewhat rare complication called Thrombotic Microangiopathy (TMA) in her kidneys.
