Had a stent fitted in December 24 and was started on heart meds. Have had an increase in gout attacks since. Unable to take Ibuprofen or Colchicine due to heart meds. Is there anything that is heart meds friendly that can replace Ibuprofen or Colchicine tia

That’s interesting . Has your rheumatologist commented on why this increase has happened? I would be pushing for some answers ? I’d even go to my pharmacist for some immediate advice . It’s tough enough with a heart condition let alone regular pain from gout.

I suggest you discuss with a pharmacist to find out whether any medication you are taking has caused your gout and what can be done about it. If you are one of the lucky ones who has access to the pharmacist at your GP surgery (I am not!) they will have direct access to your medical records and also to your GP.

One of my heart meds is 40mg Furosemide and that causes me gout - which medics denied for quite some time until the blood tests could not be ignored any longer! They then gave me Allopurinol to bring down uric acid levels, and Colchicine for any attacks. I still get gout attacks every few months and I find the Colchicine to be completely useless for pain control in my case. I do take Ibruprofen instead - with food, and I am aware of the risks for HF, but the pain is unbearable without. GP tends to poo poo the gout anyway - clearly he's never had it, and suggested steroids. I don't want to go down that route so I try to manage the gout myself the best I can. Good luck with getting help with it.

steroids for gout??? That’s a new one on me! Or perhaps I’m behind the times.

You really should not take Ibuprofen for gout, both are linked to kidneys , far better with Paraceatomol. But meds do have an effect , but not as much as food.

Salt, all high purine foods can have a dramatic effect , Liver pate , will set me off in a minute , so keep a food diary avoiding all , salami, bacon , mushrooms , sardines and oily fish , are a trigger for many people .

Diet is so critical with gout .
