I am sorry that you have constant pain and hope that you get the services of a doctor dealing in pain management. As far as the weight gain goes, have you had your thyroid checked, lately?
hello, it’s difficult to give you suggestion on pain management…first it should be your ONC who hand,es this aspect of your health.
Personally, with bone Mets, I’ve learned to manage well enough by taking loratadine daily…it’s an antihistamine that calms down the histamine effects of cancer cells that cause pain in the bone.
Also, ibuprofen is good for the inflammation but I have found that any NSAID works even better when taken with acetaminophen..it’s a well known “cocktail “ that works on both pain pathways.
I used oxycodone after surgeries, but I couldn’t wait to get off them..yes, you can gain weight when you are taking things that slow down your gut. However, don’t worry too much about the weight gain…I gained and then lost when I switched treatments.
Nevertheless, your diet is important to pain management, limiting the effect of extra weight on fragile joints, but also in keeping your gut healthy. More and more research is concluding that avoiding fried foods is helpful in gut health which co tools so much of your body’s wellbeing.
Hope this helps…but if it’s bone pain mostly, do follow up on the use of loratadine (Claritin). 🙏🙏
Hi! I would definitely ask your doctor to recommend palliative care. They will lead you in the right direction for pain management!!! Contrary to popular belief, it is not just for those who are “actively dying”. I’ve been seeing mine for almost 3 years now and she has literally nipped all my pain with her suggestions.
Good Luck and God Bless! 🙏🏻🩷🙏🏻
I eat 1/4 cup dried, tart cherries. I think this is why I have avoided the joint pain. Also, I am on my feet most of the day (as a teacher) so maybe the movement helps too.
I have extensive bone nets and have managed well on extra strength Acetaminophen . When I am really uncomfortable I also will add Ibuprofen.
As suggested above, I just starting to take Claritin as well, and it does seem to help.
Heat seems to soothe my pain as well.
Take good care of yourself.
