My transformation from one of the Ugly Sisters to possibly Cinderella
A Long time and no silly blog fuss. Life has been very fast and hectic and some of it has been hilarious, and some not quite so. I have one teen about to sit GCSE's and the other A Levels, both part time at school with myself trying to co-ordinate work and tutors, actually I mainly pay the A*6th formers

Post Exertional Malaise
Post-exertional malaise a defining, compulsory and cardinal feature for diagnosis under most current criteria. The term "malaise" defined by wikipedia as: a feeling of general discomfort or uneasiness, of being "out of sorts", often the first indication of an infection or other disease. This poor description

switching from t3 only to NDT any advice
Hi, I have m.e - sadly it is not just badly treated hypothyroidism as inexplicable things come into play - although in the last year I have discovered how big a role my low cortisol v hypothyroid has been playing in my illness. As a result of this discovery I started using T3 only last September with

daily antihistamines on top of existing asthma meds?
Hi All Any of your little ones take a daily anti histamine as well as their other meds? My 12 year old recently had further allergy tests and he reacted to dust, cats, flowering trees, mold and grass. Just received a letter this morning asking us to get a prescription from GP for a daily anti histamine

Chicken Pox and PMR/GCA
I definitely thought I was too old to have chicken pox. Unfortunately my nephews visited during the infectious period and I was unlucky to get it. I felt as though I had the flue for a few days, and then spots on my thighs, which I thought was caused by a steroid cream I was using for a wound on my

Help am I going mad!
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone out there could possibly help shed some light on my situation. 2 years approx my skin started drying out almost over night and looking old and withdrawn. I started using creams to try and moisturise my hands and body. Then later I came out in a rash on my back scalp

Reducing plus how much calcium should we have daily???
Seem to have lost my last thread in which PMRpro kindly responded and I was to keep her posted. My ESR has dropped from 16 to 8 within a 3 week time frame on my Hydrocortisone 12 hours slow release acid resistant caps. Had a B12 injection last week as my bloods indicated level borderline - had certainly

Test results interpretation
Hi again, I've got Graves and am hyper on Carbimazole 30mg and Propanolol at 40mg 3 x day. The beta blockers have caused a very very itchy psoriasis - like rash. GP has just prescribed some steroid cream which should help! My question though, as I'm still very new to this is how to interpret my blood

Does anyone have an experience of this drug? After 10 months of trying MTX and Sulpha (both of which helped the RA but had side effects that meant I could not continue to take them) I went for my first infusion last week. However, it seems my body doesn't want to like any drugs and I had an allergic

Armour or Erfa?
Sorry, I realise this has been discussed before! I was put on Erfa Thyroid along with Medrol for adrenal fatigue a year ago, by a doctor trained by Thierry Hertoghe, after ten years on thyroxine only. Since then, I have had my ups and downs. I seem to do better on the smaller pills of Erfa (30 and

Eyes and legs!
Approximately three weeks ago I developed a rash on both of my shins. Tiny red spots, very slightly raised, they don't itch, but don't go away either. I have tried putting Canesten on them and hydrocortisone too, but it doesn't have any effect on them. I also have very painful aching calves. Around

Effective emollient moisturisers: tips please?
Sjogrens sicca dry overheated skin symptoms are even worse for me this winter than ever. Complicated by my raynauds being simultaneous with erythromelalgia, all are secondary to my infant onset systemic lupus.....along with various other typical secondaries. Am on daily hydroxychloroquine + mycophenolate
