Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Low-Carbohydrate Diets
Typically, a low-carb diet will be high in fats. There is no obvious reason to compensate with higher levels of protein. Ansel Keys fudged his data in the 1950's (the Seven Countries Study) to implicate saturated animal fat in cardiovascular disease. What followed was the dominance of corn oil & other

Hello
Hi everyone, thought I'd say hello. Just started the 12 week plan after realizing at 51yrs old I am now 10st 3lb, GP say's I'm borderline diabetic and have raised blood pressure. I want to reduce these by my next appointment in 3 week for a check up. I don't want to end up on medication to control either

Blood test results
Hi, I would like to run some information past you all, and request your opinion. I'll try to be brief. Some of you know I have been doing the lchf diet since March. I have had 2 blood tests in that time. The other relevant info is that I stopped the statin (with gp permission) and reduced metformin,

LCHF diet results for the past week or so
I started my LCHF diet regiment for the last two weeks, but ran into a snag with my test strips and hence the readings did not match how I felt. Once I replace the strips and did a control test, I started recording my results daily. Day 1 FBS 129 (used to be this low only with 2000 mg of metformin

Whats a safe oral med after getting off insulin?
I've been on victoza & lever for about 3 years now. My a1c over that time has gone from 9.2 to now a 6.7. I've lost 30 pounds & have a healthier lifestyle now which includes exercise & eating better. I take Hyzaar for my bp. I was diagnosed with early kidney disease after my first son. I've been in metformin

High cholesterol - new to group
Hi, l am new to this group and look forward to learning more and sharing my experience of high cholesterol. My high cholesterol was initially detected following a routine blood test. It was 7.34 with low HDL. This really frightened me into taking control of my diet and introducing some daily walking.

Statins
I am totally confused. I had a stent put in a blocked coronary artery one year ago. Couldn't take Simvastatin at first but when I tried with small doses over time, the side effects went away. I take Uniquinol to counter the effects of the statin. My LDL is now back to normal and I just ran my first 5k
