Atorvastatin and raised blood sugar
I was on simvastatin 40mg for many years and 2 years ago my Dr changed my medication to 20mg atorvastatin. My blood sugar has increased to the point of needing lifestyle changes. Has anyone noticed the link between statins and diabetes or is it just me?

Fed up with BPressure
Well!My bp has been really stable for over 12 months ,120 /130 70/80. So reduced Losartan from 100mg to 50mg ( 25mg twice a day) on Dr's advice. Monitor regularly. Few weeks back,Monitor packed up but didn't replace immediately, didn't feel the need urgently. However last week felt a bit tired and

E.D. with cirrhosis
Do any men here take E.D. medication who have cirrhosis? If so, what meds, what stage cirrhosis? Experience and advice please. Is tadalafil (Cialis) less harsh on the liver than sildenafil (Viagra)? Other options? Of course I won't take anything without being given by my doctor.

Blood found during endoscopy
Hi folks, not posted in quite a while.....Had endoscopy done Friday gone, long story short. Altered blood was found in my antrum. Unfortunately they had to band 4 varices, they were large, but said no sign of bleeding from them. Several other small varices ,so another endoscopy in 6 month. Portal hypertensive

VLDL results - confusing
For the last five years or so, I’ve had slightly high cholesterol , e.g. 5.7 mmol/l total, 3.4 LDL but good 1.9 HDL, 0.9 triglycerides and total/HDL ratio of 3. I get tested once a year or so. I’m not overweight and am active, etc., but I do want to bring that LDL down and made a few changes such as

Losartan and increased heart rate
I’ve been taking ramipril for about a month and just changed to Losartan 25 as felt the ramipril was making me anxious. I’ve noticed my resting heart rate has increased slightly from about 67 to 72 average. Is this a thing? Obviously as an anxious person I’ve focussed in on it!!!

Fluctuating High Blood Pressure
I've had hypertension 140-150-160/90 for a while and I received treatment (Atacand 16mg)from a cardiologist, but I have the impression that the medicine interacts with my hormone level, as if it puts me in a hypo state. I take it in the morning 2 hours after the hormone dose(112 t4 and 6t3), as if my

Valium RLS
Is anyone using Valium/diazepam or any other benzo to treat RLS? The Horizant that I’ve been using for the last year and a half isn’t working as well as it used to.

Any tips on raising HDL please? Thanks
Hi Vegan for almost 30 years now, age 52. Latest bloods. Total cholesterol 2.6 (<5) LDL 1.6 (<4) HDL 0.9 (>1.0) Triglycerides 0.6 (<1.8) Non HDL 2.25 Cholesterol/HDL ratio 3.0 (<5) So, all markers are ok except for HDL. I’ve read that vegans tend to have low HDL. Any tips to raise this please

Private cholesterol testing - not DIY
Hello all, I used to keep blood tests abroad, but I travel less now. The NHS will give tests every few years, but I’d like to keep an eye on my LDL figures. I have tried at home kits with limited success. I just wondered about options for clinics who do this? I’m sort of OK to pay up to £80 but any

Blood pressure after an aneurysm
I've had high blood pressure for about 15 years. Doctor told me it was due to my birth control (DEPO POVERA), being on it for to long. So I discontinued the DEPO and had my tubes tied instead. That was years ago and still today my blood pressure is high if I don't take benazepril ( 20mg daily) as prescribed

Ramipril or/and lack of sleep causing higher BP?
I am a slim, physically active 63 year old. My diet is good and I am retired. My blood pressure was measured at 160/85 at a check-up. Whilst, waiting for a doctor's appointment, I measured my BP at home. It was typically around 135/77 but on two ocasions over a ten day period it hit 155/80. At the doctor's
