MVA triggered by immune challenge
I am not sure where this post might lead, or even if it serves any purpose. Probably it doesn't. However, I will proceed anyway! I have noticed a consistent pattern of immune challenges causing MVA flare-ups: these challenges can be an infection, a flu jab or even an insect bite. I wondered if anybody

Asthma cough/mucus worse past three years
I've noticed lots of people on the site writing that their asthma has worsened in the last few years. A lot of us were given the pneumococcal vaccine about then, could this have triggered something? Or the ever changing flu injections?

Shingles vaccine and blood tests
Thanks all for your replies on the vaccine and blood tests. I will ask if vaccine is live when time comes (3 years yet) and see if I can register to see blood test results - I have one for thyroid every year.

Reducing prednisolone and flu vaccine
I have just seen my rheumatologist (we will know the blood results in a couple of days), and she suggested I start alternating between 15mg and 10mg for the rest of this week (my week starts on Monday) and drop to 10mg from Monday. Asking for Your input on Bisoprolol, Nebivolov, Flecainide What has been your experience with these drugs?
Six weeks ago I had my first strong AFIB as diagnosed in the emergency ward. After 3 days of a variety of scans they put me on Apixaban and 2.5 mg of Bisoprolol. I'm a 70 year old male, always active. But now I can hardly get out of bed. I'm breathless, exhausted, and anxious. I have always been on a

Azathioprine and Mesalazine
The saga continues... I started taking azathioprine a week ago despite speaking to a pharmacist that my mesalazine was mentioned in the aza leaflet. He told me not to worry. It was fine. Today I was picking up my repeat prescriptions and saw that my more regular pharmacist was in and So I decided

New to Olumiant/Barcinitib
Hi, I have RA and have just started taking Olumiant. I’m noticing a good improvement and I’m happy with it so far (in my 2nd week). I am however kicking myself now though for not having a flu shot before I started. I’m in Victoria, Australia and get a really bad cold/flu like illness almost every winter

B12 May Slow Progression and Maintain Cognitive Function
I have posted this before, but it may be useful for those of you who are newly diagnosed or new to this site. Vitamin B12 is one of many Vitamin B supplements which may slow the progression of Parkinson's Disease. https://parkinsonsnewstoday.com/2018/03/14/b12-vitamin-supplements-may-help-delay-parkinsons-progression

Puffy Eyes from Low Thyroid. Help, it's making me sad :(
I wrote a similar question & received some wonderful answers about this topic but wanted to ask a little more in detail & mention some things I hadn't before. One and a half years ago I developed puffy eyes/eyebags. I thought they were related to my low thyroid (hypothyroidism) or aging because I had

Sickness and diarrhoea- what do I do about my tablets please?
Oh dear , I’ve kicked off the new year in a bad way ! I’ve been up since about 3 am and can’t keep anything - not even sips of water down . I guess I’ve caught a gastric bug , unless I’m having my first flare ! I’ve had my flu jab . Everywhere aches , particularly my shoulders and I’m shivering . What

Hypermobility syndrome
I’m 27 and been struggling with both my knees and elbows since I was 25, I have pain everyday in these joints ! Some days better than others, but it really tires me out! I’m struggling with simple things such as going up and down stairs and getting my leg in the bath to take a shower! And as embarrassing

Prescribing cascade
Although not directly applicable to PMR/GCA probably a lot of us may have this happen to us. Consider, for example, a man in his late seventies, fit and active, “routinely prescribed” (like so many of his age group) a cholesterol lowering statin. Two months later, he consults his doctor with muscular

Anyone had a liver from a donor with hepatitis C?
My partner has been asked if he would be willing to take one. The hep C if it does come across with the transplant can be cured with a tablet course 99 percent o& the time, says our leaflet. Anyone with any experience of this? Thanks Sophie

Long time DX,SORT TIME TMT
I was diagnosed with CLL in 1995. I’ve been on W&W until this year in Sept. at age 86. Treatment was initiated Ibrutinib 140mg, orally per diem. I’ve positive movement with my numbers and the splenomegaly. My nodes were minimally involved. My side effects have been undetectable. Given good response
