Professor Graham Hughes August 2014 Blog
In Hughes syndrome when brain or spinal cord involvement is prominent, most patients require
heparin
or warfarin. And yet, this seriously incapacitated lady responded ‘miraculously’ to a single ‘baby’ aspirin daily. Why? We don’t know. Secondly, the links between Hughes syndrome and MS.

He is stopping the aspirin and starting
heparin
and cyclophosphamide. I'm a bit scared, has anyone else been on this? Grateful for your reply Thanks Elfie.

Re. Heparin trial
Thought it would be better to admit me for aheadscan and start the
heparin
+cyclophosphamide.and if that doesn't work he will give me Rituximab. Has anyone had any hairloss with the cyclo? Thanks elfie

Advice after miscarriages
They had to wait until scans before they would put me on
heparin
so I started this at about 6 weeks. The follow up scans showed the baby was developing but it was a week behind my own dates, which I was sure of. Sadly, I lost this pregnancy at about 9 weeks, having seen a heartbeat the week before.

Ménière's too
Does anyone else have Ménière's as well as SSc? I've had symptoms of Ménière's for 18 months but consultant said no definitive diagnoses as my hearing test was normal although it was likely. Episodes of tinnitus and dizziness have increased recently and I had a bad episode whilst driving. GP says

Headaches while asleep
Get blurred vision and floating grey bits in front of my eyes in the day, but not headaches unless INR so low I am having
heparin
injections as a safety net until it goes up.

Question about treatment
I was on aspirin and
heparin
in pregnancy. I've seen a consultant haemotologist who says all my tests were negative apart from the DRVVT - the more sensitive one for lupus antibody.

Hi Was diagnosed with DVT and been on
Heparin
(now off) and Warfarin for nearly two months out of a three month treatment time. There was no obvious reason for the DVT and all the main factors were ruled out and I'm an active 36 yr old.

Professor Graham Hughes June 2014 Blog
Finally, after a brain scan which showed small lesions, she was started first on
heparin
and finally on warfarin. Marked improvement, but still problems, including fatigue. She was referred for a second opinion.

Professor Hughes June Blog 2014, included as much content about the link with Thyroid problems!
In many ways, Mrs M.G.’s case ticks all the boxes: • Headache/migraine • History of teenage ‘glandular fever’ • Limb jerks • Angina (Syndrome X) • Unexplained foot bone fractures bone ischaemia) • Brain ‘dots’ on MRI • Response to aspirin
heparin
warfarin • Sjögren’s syndrome and response to Plaquenil

Heparin trial
Hi all, I'm due to see my rheumatologist soon, would it it be acceptable to ask about a
heparin
trial because I feel the 300mg. Of aspirin daily is not doing the job anymore, I seem to be getting a lot of headaches/ migraines again.

Complicated
I was admitted to a ward to get checked over the following day and got a
heparin
injection until so. During that night I started bleeding knowing that being pregnant and bleeding was not a good sign. The blood clot was completely ignored and I got put to the maternity wing.
