open heart surgery for AF
hi My EP says did to my heart having an anatomical variant he was unable to do the ablation as he couldn’t get to the heart through the vein. He is now telling me my only option is open heart surgery. Sounds a bt drastic but has anyone had this procedure for AF. My af has gone from PAF to persistent

Tests show fatty liver but I seem to have Terry's Nails?
I felt reassured as I do have
health
anxiety
. And I think pregnancy hormones have worsened this anxiety. About a month ago, I noticed my nails were pale and had some white bands going across the nail bed. Not sure when the change first occured.

Positivity, trust and determination are the key to a good recovery after major open heart surgery.
I am an 86 year old female but my aorta with a 6cms aneurism and the valve were replaced. I kept positive and, touch wood, five months on I am independent and well.

A new day
Today I woke up at 4:30 am and I have work at 9am! I can’t go back to bed so I’ve walked to the shop to get some toast and lucozade. I’m still coming off a hangover from Saturday night and I have major anxiety. I’ve decided to give up drinking (please wish me luck, I’m in my early 20s so I need it).

Some good news at last.
Some good news at last. Saw EP for 6 week follow up, 2 weeks ago, reduced Bisoprolol to 1.25mg but continue with heart failure meds and booked echocardiogram which I had yesterday. Sonographer was lovely, very chatty, I had my previous report from Late January 24 with me, Ejection Fraction 28%, severe

INR readings
Can anyone explain INR reading and their importance please? My wife needs to be at a 1.8 but is currently at a 1.6. They've put her on a shot to raise her level but we're not sure what that really means. We're very new to this new lifestyle change. 1 week ago she had mitral valve replacement. Thanks

Week 6 done
I have always had a
health
anxiety
. I have all sorts of stresses, as do we all. But when I'm running, they are forgotten about. The only thing you have to concentrate on is putting one foot in front of the other. Oh and breathing, don't forget to breath. I can definitely say this feels good.

Five weeks post Op
I am slowly feeling better, pain in the chest and discomfort in the back, left rib and sternum is still there but I know it will all fuse back together soon. I sometimes feel in my own world but present if you get what I mean. The one thing I have found difficult is the mood swings, I push myself to

Afib and Atrial tachycardia ...
Hi all, Long story short, I've had arrhythmia for years, Afib and SVT. 4 ablations later, last year they fitted me with a dual chamber pacemaker and had an AV Node ablation. I still have an ILR fitted and from the uploads of a night from my monitor, they have found I'm having Atrial Tachycardia,

wires
I am just enquiring if anyone else who has recently had open heart surgery, has a hole at the top of their scar. It appears like a hole but I have noticed wire sticking out (appears white) Just wondered if anyone has noticed this and what it could indicate.

Newbie - Constant bradycardia afib/arrhythmia symptoms?
Hi! I'm curious if anyone has/had constant 24/7 bradycardia afib/arrhythmia? What symptoms did you experience? Short background, husband had an ICD implanted 6 of Feb and it has caused/triggered constant afib (reading medical research I now understand these procedures are known to in cases be pro-arrhythmic

Mitral Valve
Hi to all, Up and till 7 March 2024, I never even had one thought about my heart valves. One week later I am scheduled for open heart surgery to replace the valve on 20 March 2024. I think I am still in shock and denial. I am feeling anxious about the operation and whether I would die in theatre. Should

Aspirin vs apixaban and other blood thinners
Has anyone here with atrial fibrillation been prescribed aspirin rather than other blood thinners like apixaban? I would rather take aspirin but my cardiologist prefers apixaban. It seems like there is research that goes both ways. My GP rolls his eyes and says opinion changes from year to year. I

Congenital Heart Disease
Hello This is mainly aimed at Females who have congenital heart disease. I have recently had my third open heart surgery, it’s been successful and I’m recovering well. I would like my own family in the future which the hospital is aware of because that’s on of the reasons as to why I have had surgery
