Afib and Atrial tachycardia ...

Hi all, Long story short, I've had arrhythmia for years, Afib and SVT. 4 ablations later, last year they fitted me with a dual chamber pacemaker and had an AV Node ablation. I still have an ILR fitted and from the uploads of a night from my monitor, they have found I'm having Atrial Tachycardia, Afib, and extra beats with SVE and VE. The pacemaker is also picking up some of this. The first thing they wanted to do was, put me on Beta blockers, which I can't take. Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so how was it resolved? I'm not sure I've made much sense here, so my apologies if I'm all over the place. Just a little worried now.

I would have thought the pacemaker would keep heart beat in sync? that is what it is for is it not? At first docs put me on beta blockers, nearly drove me insane with anxiety, came off them immediately . I have fleconide acetate which I take if my heart as not returned back to normal in15 hours , usually one tab is enough at that time may not work earlier

I have other things wrong with the heart, so they are being careful about pacing at the moment and trying to help with the problems I have, so I'm waiting for an Echo and other things. I just can't get my head around it and this is so unlike me.

So sorry to hear of your problems.

I have 3 lead RST Pacemaker which seems to have sorted out my difficulties. It does sound as though you may need to wait until all the results of the tests are in before you will know more. I can’t take any Beta Blockers but thankfully since PM I’ve not needed them.

What I can’t understand is if you have had AV node ablation why you are still getting Atrial Tachycardia? There must still be some signals getting through or there is something else going on which hopefully will be revealed.

My EP told me that after AV ablation it is possible for the ventricles to go out of sync when 2 lead PM is used, which is why 3 lead is preferred. Of course this is more expensive.
