A Day in the Life
I don’t normally talk about how my TS effects me, lately it’s been easy for me, I’ve coped well with the tics but it’s been my depression that’s been bothering me, up and down like a yo-yo. Sorry I haven’t been around much but I have, hands up been struggling, chatting (or rather crying) on the TA helpline

Just saying hello!
I've recently been diagnosed with arthritis, and thought I'd drop by and say hello! In addition to the usual pain relief, my chiropractor has suggested using a hot water bottle... and a taxi driver suggested using a packet of frozen peas! I've tried the peas idea and it didn't work for me. He also

Shin splints back :(
Am waiting till these pesky shin splints have gone. They started again on Saturday and only after 8 minutes run!( Wk2 R2) Have strengthened, stretched, iced, elevated, had warm baths, 'deep heat' and focused on them for the last two days, but can still feel pain on bone. Although there is some improvement

Help Dealing with Sickle Cell Anemia
Hello everyone, I have had sickle cell anemia my entire life. I used to go the hospital very often, but now I only go about twice a year to be admitted. I have; through research, asking around and other such things; found different ways to deal with the pain of my disease. To avoid pain: Wrap

Week 7 Run 1, Calf pain sorted, I think.
After taking advice on my last blog and a few days rest, I managed to do this run 6.30am today. Having previously had a pain in one calf, I thought I might never run again (hypochondria comes to mind). Rested the leg for a few days, rubbed deep heat into it (don't know if that helped but it felt good

Treadmill, boring, but definitely easier on the knees!
Hi all, Hadn't run since last Thursday, just making extra sure about the knee and also had lots on so had a gym session planned for last night (we have free use of our school's fitness suite!! Yay!) Anyway, Sunday my left shoulder felt a bit weird, Sunday night couldn't sleep on it, extremely painful

Concerns about B12 jabs are the least of my worries!
Before being diagnosed in early 2010 I'd never even heard of Pernicious Anaemia yet alone know the effects of this disease. I was just relieved to get a diagnosis for the symptoms I'd been suffering for a couple of years and looked forward to being on the mend. I'd had a pain in my side (2008)

Is anyone else out there AMA negative. I keep getting little bits of info from my specialist and evidently I am consistently this.
I thought that PBC was usually AMA positive. Evidently I have persistently raised alkaline phosphatase. Is anybody else out there like me??

Cold Hands
I have very poor circulation in my hands, causing them to turn icy cold more often than not. I have looked everywhere for a warm cream and only found products such as 'Deep Heat Muscle Rub', which is mainly for pain. I also found 'ThermoMax Warm Cream'; an American product for which I'm currently

Has anyone any suggestions for hip pain?
For almost 2 weeks now (I think since the weather turned) both of my hips have been in constant pain. I can't sleep for any more than an hour at a time as the pain on my pressure points wakes me when I'm on either side and I can't sleep on my back as then my lower back ends up in agony. I've taken co

Fed up :(
Angel65 16 Apr 12 1:28pm
In bed with yet another chest infection. Ended up in a&e and went through the familiar routine of nebulisers, steroids and antibiotics. And all because I caught another cold! It's only April yet this is the second time I've fallen ill this year. Been taking seretide religiously

Is this RA or just overdoing it?
Hi all just wondered if those of you with only RA know whether the kind of stiffness and ache I always used to get after exercise might be RA? Or have I just been overdoing it - or getting stressed about this rheumy apt cancellation subconsciously? The pain is not acute like previous flare-ups but

Not yet formally diagnosed - very new to RA - but does Kenalog 80mg mask symptoms when I get to see the consultant finally in 6 weeks time?
My GP thinks I have RA but, because I live in Orkney (islands off Scotland), it's taking an age to diagnose and see a specialist - 2 months so far. What I really want to know is does anyone else get this deep heat sensation in limbs and joints? Mine started, mainly in wrists and arms, a year ago before

Strange coincidences?
Hi has anyone else experienced the sudden disappearance of RA symptoms after six painful months, apart from a residual slight ache in hands and feeling of fatigue and still the deep heat in feet and wrists sometimes? I've been almost pain free for four days now. I'm not on any medication apart from Amitriptyline
