Half Way There!...... and feeling good :)
So, I’m half way there! Tonight I will tackle run 1 of week 5! I can honestly say that I never thought I would make it this far, and even more so to be enjoying the sense of freedom and ‘me time’ and running so much. Ok, it’s a snails pace at the moment and I see real runners running much faster but

Anyone else had problems with their quads?
After my run today (28 mins), my left quad has gone very stiff like a block of wood and is slightly painful when I stand on that leg. Have stretched, iced, had a hot bath and now smell of the alluring odour of 'Eau de Deep Heat!' Any suggestions/tips/help... ouch! :(

Why am I waking up in the night so hungry?
After another very restless night of waking up with painful hunger pangs, I'd like to know whether anybody else suffers from this? I didn't get this before, but it's becoming usual now. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer yesterday, and am getting thyroidy symptoms, but no drugs as yet to balance

Ouch!
Well last night I hurt my knee. I was doing my normal run, listening to Laura doing W9 and thinking I may push on to do the full 5k. First 5 minutes was hellish! I don't know about the rest of you but I always find it hard and coupled with the freezing temperature and the snow lashing my face it was

Week 9 Run 2 - Christmas Eve
Normally I am up for my run the moment the alarm goes off at 6:00am; no time to think about it if I am going to have a run before work. This morning as I did not need to get up early it was quite tempting to think that I did not need to run at all today as I could 'catch up' later in the week.

Telford 10k " I'll just be pleased to finish" said I.....
Yesterday, I posted a question as to whether or not I should run today. I'd hurt my calf quite badly last weekend after weeks of slightly niggling with the result that I struggled to walk on Sunday and Monday. I made a point of icing regularly and gentle stretching and by yesterday it was feeling a

Is this some sort of flare up?
I just don't know. I slept all morning and then tried to do some work this afternoon but couldn't keep my eyes open so gave up and tried to do exercises on Nintendo wii as its just too disgusting to be outside with rain and gale force winds today. Then had a hot bath as I'm so chilled despite the fire

W2R2 done ... And my perfume of choice is now Deep Heat !
Run 2 today... All good, I recover well, am tired by the fourth stint but I do it. Am pleased that I feel like its all doable , the hardest part is getting started! However, after Run 1 of week 2 I had the worst nights sleep for a long time .... Everything from hip down ached and despite having

If I could buy you all a drink I would!! Repeated W2R3...
I set off today beyond prepped with every cramp remedy known! I downloaded the android app to add my own bouncier music (sorry Laura!), had a banana and a potassium drink along with lots of water. I did a 10 minute warm up adding in more stretches and walking. I also covered my calves in deep heat and

Feeling defeated and a little knocked back...W2R3
I was hoping to get to run 3 and be saying how lovely it was to feel like I'd progressed and how much easier I found this one, but no I'm afraid :( It's making me well-up at work just thinking about this mornings run!! How silly! For anyone following, I got particularly bad cramp on my run 2 (Tuesday

Craammmpppp!!! - W2R2, ouchie!
Hi everyone!! Hope you are all having lovely weeks? I woke up this morning knowing I made the mistake of not getting enough sleep. 6 hours is not enough!! However, I got up at the usual 6:55 and set off for W2R2. I felt urgh, but I knew I'd done the run before and would be ok. Got to the third

I have just completed week 3 but have developed very painful knees - they are painful even when I am just walking.
The pain developed at the end of week 2. I don't want to give up on the programme. What should I do? I am using Deep Heat. I have stopped running every other day, but am usually off again after a break of two days. I am running through the pain, though it doesn't always feel as bad when I have been

Regarding mixed connective tissue disorders, crossover and autoimmunity in general..
I read this when my searching took me to a Lupus site yesterday and thought it might be of interest to others who are also often in a muddle regarding the crossover of these related conditions such as RA, Hypothyroidism, Lupus, MS, secondary conditions such as Raynauds, Diabetes etc. When

I'm on my last leg!
I forced myself to go out for W2R2 after work today, as it was a dry spell in a week of apparently solid rain. Well, talk about a shambles! My legs felt like lead from the off and my right leg was ready for giving up the ghost completely. Aching from ankle to knee, although it feels better when I run

Calves on fire!
Can anyone please help? I am on week 2 just done run 1 and since begining my calves are so stiff. I've tried deep heat but doesn't help, I always have a shower/bath after 'running'. I don't go fast but I do go up a slight incline around run 3. I've been trying some calf stretches before I go. Any

Wk 3 started: Nice!
So, I skipped work a bit early and went for my first post-work training. I was worried to run after work as, you see, I've been lucky enough to work from home for a couple of weeks and was able to go for the first two weeks of this training around 10am. If I could, I would keep training at that time
