Hashimotos, long-term use of just Levo and chorlesterol.
I have recently read up (Stop the Thyroid Madness and Dr P book) and wondered what people thought about the issue with Cholesterol problems resulting from taking T4 only for many years? This seems to be a Hashi issue. My GP has never mentioned this, I have never had a cholesterol test. I am nearly 45

The cholesterol,a brief summary of its function and synthesis and how statins works to lower it.
There is a lot of controversy going on role of cholesterol as well as on a group of drugs known as STATINS.Many have dubbed this drug as useless while others have branded it potentially harmful. So, there is a lot of confusion as many research papers which support the use of statins are said to be sponsored

Thoughts on my blood tests
I also see that
HDL
the good
cholesterol
could be higher. Is there anything else I should have noticed?... numbers confuse me! Thank you.

Thalassemia b minor and hypothyroidism
I was born with the type of thalassemia b minor that is such that two hematologists in the US, where I had lived up to 15 years ago, both advised me to take folic acid 5mg a day supplement. I've taken this amount of folic acid all of my life since that point many years ago. I was also on 200 mcg

A1c improved, Hdl improved, LDL gone bad.
Dear all, after 6 months of Lahr my a1c improved from 11.2 to now 6.6 . HDL from 39 to 45 , but ldl from 132 to 153. What is the reason for Ldl going bad? Total cholesterol is 213. I don't take any statin.

Worried? No.
Triglycerides,
HDL
/LDL (
cholesterol
) - normal. Hemoglobin a little low, but of no concern (I don't eat a lot of meat and donate blood regularly). In all, and no surprise to me, I'm A1, though my wife might demur!

weight gain
HDL
(good)
cholesterol
is significantly elevated with a very low carb diet like this which is a very strong net positive. This also has other great health benefits e.g. Lower insulin reduces the risk of hardening of artery walls.

"We just treat ranges"
Yes, this is what I actually heard come out of a GP's mouth last time I spoke on the phone and requested a print out of all my thyroid and cholesterol tests. Since they lowered my dosage by 25 mcg of thyroxine 2.5 years ago, my cholesterol shot way up. I insisted on trying to get back to the level

Increasing cholesterol levels
Hi When i had my last two tests for my levels they had increased despite being Bezafibrate medication. I dont eat a lot of red meat, diary or fatty foods. I have FH but never been to a lipid clinic. I am not due to have another test until next month or the beginning of June. What options will there
