High cholesterol
Hi all, I am due to receive cholesterol results over the phone tomorrow and I would like to be prepared. I am a 37 year old female and I know that the familial high cholesterol is in my family, however, I had a cholesterol test about 10 years ago ‘prior to diagnosis’ and it was a healthy 3. However

Life as I know it
I'm nearly 62 years old; this is a deliberate use of the word old.... I'm no longer me, no respite from pain, insomnia, fibro fog, pins and needles, hypersensitivity to noise and bright lights. Added to this I also have Hypothyroidism with these symptoms: fatigue, increased sensitivity to cold, constipation

Cholesterol over range despite weight loss and dieting - what’s going on?
Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could get some advice on my recent Medichecks results. I got the well woman check to check a few things I was concerned about monitoring including my cholesterol. My previous check last year showed my cholesterol was high but still in normal range but now my results

Update on Non Temporal GCA
Just back from my doctor. The email from the hospital had not yet arrived despite the hospital consultant carefully explaining to me yesterday like I was an idiot that electronic mail is instant not like post. Felt like telling him I was using email before he was in long pants😡 So my doctor had no update

Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (Inherited High Cholesterol) alias FH
Out of interest, for those who have been actually told they have FH, I thought it would be interesting to know what their cholesterol levels were before they were presumably prescribed medication. I found I had a natural cholesterol level of between 9 and 10 over 20 years ago and have been taking statins

Baricitinib and highCholesterol levels
Hi All. Have just had some bloods done and they're showing an increase in LDL lipids and HDL lipids so overall total is 6.7. Interestingly, my level has increased since being on Baricitinib since 2019 and I suspect I’m going to have to go onto statins to counteract the effects of the drug! Nothing in

Is it common to get chest pains with thyroid problems?
I saw a post today from someone who was having chest pain with their thyroid problem and was wondering if my pain could indicate I have the same. I have been in A&E today for the second time in 10 days with ongoing short, sharp pain on the left hand side of my chest with palpitations. Last week they

Lupus and Heart Disease: Why You’re at Increased Risk
Meanwhile,

Vasculitis vs arteriosclerosis, getting pregnant after a CABG and statin/diet questions!
Hi! I’m 34 and have just had a CABG, I’m 6 weeks post op and feel almost back to normal. Yes, I know, I’m young and have bounced! They think that my coronary arteries were damaged by vasculitis I (might) have had when I was 19, it wasn’t diagnosed at the time as I had just classic viral symptoms although

CLL and Cholesterol
My specific query is can CLL affect, especially the
HDL
(good)
cholesterol
.? I understood its preferred to be in the range 1-2.5, so I'm literally just under that. I can see that weight (i'm slightly overweight BMI 26.5%) is a factor as is lack of exercise.
