Update on Non Temporal GCA

Just back from my doctor. The email from the hospital had not yet arrived despite the hospital consultant carefully explaining to me yesterday like I was an idiot that electronic mail is instant not like post. Felt like telling him I was using email before he was in long pants😡

So my doctor had no update but she is getting me an urgent ENT appointment as that is what the hospital suggested to me. In fairness to her she took on board all I said about about my concerns of non temporal GCA but she has to go on the hospital recommendation first. She has also scheduled me for another cholesterol test as was very high last time and can then follow up on stroke risk which is my main concern. I read in an article posted by PMRpro that that a higher proportion of younger PMR patients get non temporal GCA leading to stroke. At 59 I’m calling myself a young one in this club, not often I can get away with that. My doctor also warned me the moment I get any loss of vision go straight to A&E which is more than the hospital said. on the plus side I am feeling better, still cannot swallow solids due to the swelling but maybe it is an infection alone and the horse tablets are starting to work. Not very reassuring when the hospital tells you yes you have an infection but we’ve no idea where.
