Do We Miss England...Nope.
Someone asked me the other day if there was anything I really missed about living in England...had to think for a while actually. Pick Your Own Strawberries I said...she looked at me and I had to explain that you can go into fields of strawberries and fill up your basket for a nominal amount of money

This year I had for the first time the Flu jab. After that I had what I would call a bad cold and general lethargy . The fact is since then I have not felt fully well.Prior to this time I had been feeling the best I had felt I since being diagnosed with Hashimotos. .It feels as though I am fighting

Cause of PMR
I am trying to find a common denominator/s for PMR and it's buddy GCA. I have noticed on this lovely forum alone that many people have been diagnosed in late 2014 and I am wondering how many of you had the flu jab then or thereabouts? I have had the flu jab with no effects except for a sore patch on

The irony of a diagnosis
It is strange but I was quite relieved to hear I was positive. I will tell you why: About 5 years ago, I was working in social care and was asked to do a health check to work on the hospital ward. I did a mantoux screening test for tuberculosis and I was meant to have a swelling but I did not, so the

A ray of hope for type 1 diabetes. BCG vaccination could prove to be a saviour.
A phase 2 clinical trial testing the ability of BCG vaccine to reverse advanced type 1 diabetes has received approval from FDA. The five year human trial will investigate whether BCG vaccination can clinically improve type 1 diabetes between 18 and 60 years of age who have small but still detectable

Immune system discovery could lead to one-jab universal flu shot

An Australia-Sino collaboration during the outbreak of the bird-borne virus mechanism has uncovered how "killer" CD8 + T cells – part of the body’s active immune system that travel throughout the body hunting down specific pathogens

First Smear (Can they Refuse me?)
Hi there I live in Scotland and I am turing 20 next month. I am expecting my invitation by my doctor to get my first smear soon. The thing is that I am still a virgin and have had the HPV vaccine while at school which puts me in the low rick catagory for developing cervical cancer or abnormal changes

Answered my own question RE jabs
I,ve found the website that stressed certain jabs are required for cirrhosis of the liver, NOT, fatty liver and other recoverable liver conditions which i think is where the ambiguity of advice has come from. The below excerpt is from the British Liver trust official website:- Looking after yourself

To vaccinate or not to vaccinate?
Grateful to know if others have had the flu vaccination to get them through the winter? Here in NZ it is autumn and cooling down - we are not far away from May so temps will be dropping. Am 2.5 months on steroids for my PMR and wonder what others think about our immune systems being a little more fragile

W8R1 - A bit chilly! ;)
Hello all! Well this morning after a 2 day break between runs (decided to give myself an extra day of recovery at this stage of the program), I embarked on my run! I've been off work for 2 days, as I think I got a bit unwell from a flu vaccination and had 2 days of wave after wave of nausea, headaches
