Iron may not be what we think it is.
The latest thinking from RLS research is that when we talk about iron ,we should be looking at
Haemoglobin
(hgb) rather than ferritin. This is from the latest magazine of the Restless legs Foundation ( Nightwalkers summer 2020). James R Connor PhD.

I am trying to take out travel insurance and have been asked if my
Haemoglobin
level is above 80g per litre. My reading is 36mmol/mol, how do I convert this figure to the requested one or even what is the answer?

Was it a TIA
I was diagnosed with MDS/MPN Crossover Syndrome nearly 18 months ago and the main symptoms are LOW
Haemoglobin
and HIGH Platelets. I am on EPO injections to increase the red blood cells and Asprin to help reduce my platelets.

Does this sound like Lupus?
I had some blood tests done back in early 2020 as I had lost a lot of weight and my FBC kept coming back with low white cells and low
haemoglobin
. They tested ANA which came back positive, and then the ENA, some of which were also positive.

High erythrocyte sedimentation rate, low RBC/haemoglobin, poor renal test results
I have a red blood cell count at the lower limit of normal (and often is abnormally low), my ferritin is 53.1, and my
haemoglobin
is at the lower limit of normal. I've noticed that some of my renal blood tests look poor.

Rivaoxiban
Due to a low
haemoglobin
level I was told to stop taking them, although early days (a month) it appears to have cured my palpitations. Has anyone else experienced similar problems with Rivaoxiban? Low
haemoglobin
and palpitations?

Where do you do your fingerprick tests?
I've always gone for site A (disclaimer, I've just done my third fingerprick test, so not a huge amount of experience), when I give blood that's where they prick you to check your
haemoglobin
. It just seemed 'right'.
