Help interpreting full blood count and Iron test

Hello recently I had a ferritin test that looked low and on here was recommended to get a full blood count and iron panel done.

The full blood count results are as follows and have been marked as "normal" by the doctors surgery:

Full blood count

7 Aug:

Haemoglobin concentration 125 g/L [115.0 - 165.0]

Total white blood count 6.5 10*9/L [4.0 - 11.0]

Platelet count - observation 291 10*9/L [150.0 - 400.0]

Haematocrit 0.37 L [0.37 - 0.46]

Red blood cell count 4.11 10*12/L [3.8 - 5.8]

RDW 13.5 % [11.0 - 14.8]

Mean cell volume 91.1 fL [80.0 - 100.0]

Mean cell haemoglobin level 30.4 pg [27.0 - 32.0]

Mean platelet volume 11.2 fL

Neutrophil count 3.33 10*9/L [1.7 - 7.5]

Lymphocyte count 2.19 10*9/L [1.0 - 4.5]

Monocyte count - observation 0.47 10*9/L [0.2 - 0.8]

Eosinophil count - observation 0.44 10*9/L [0.0 - 0.4]

Above high reference limit

Basophil count 0.07 10*9/L [0.0 - 0.1]

The iron panel i had done via medichecks "errored" but 3 results did come back:

4 Aug:

CRP HS 0.85 mg/L (<5)

Iron 24.74 (5.8-34.5)

Ferritin 58.8 ug/L (13-150)

I have redone the medichecks test this morning but I thought this was odd as the ferritin is alot higher (could be that I ate some pate about 4 days before the test before I realised I should avoid high iron foods - will see how it changes to today)

I wont supplement yet until these come back, but does this even look like I should supplement? I was thinking iron might be the issue as to why i am so fatigued but if not then its likely my hypothyroidism entirely.

And, any help on interpreting FBC and whether i should be concerned by the Eosinophil count?

TIA

Thanks - you mean it’s not important? Does it need to be super high for it to be a problem?

Your results look perfectly acceptable, so be careful if considering any form of supplementation as too much can do more harm than good. Regarding the eosinophil count, it should be nothing to be concerned about unless it increases and/or stays consistently elevated. A common cause can be an allergy or infection that you probably don't even know you have. However, if any test result worries you, your GP is the person to discuss it with, particularly as they know your medical history, and, if necessary, further testing can be carried iut

Thanks Partner20 - I actually found a test from 12 June 2019 where I had an eosinophil of 0.71 (0-0.4). So it looks like it has been elevated for a while.

It has gone down I guess, am I best to still ask my doctor about it?

Yes I was going to start ferrous fumerate tablets but the ferritin is up on the medichecks test in just a week. It seems a bit fluctuating. Will see what the second medichecks test comes back as. (As the first one errored they send a second one but the iron and ferritin results did come back from the first one).

Often one result in isolation means nothing, as they tend to be read in conjunction with other tests, but it would be useful to discuss this with your Gp , if only to put your mind at rest. Again, be wary of supplementing iron in any form if your levels are adequate. Too high a level can be far from helpful.
