B12 Injection

I have to undergo a B12 injection every 3 months. I am trying to take out travel insurance and have been asked if my Haemoglobin level is above 80g per litre.

My reading is 36mmol/mol, how do I convert this figure to the requested one or even what is the answer?

I *think* it says 58.01 g/dL.

Though there are quite a number of such converters available. Do try a few to cross-check their results!

Are you sure that's your haemoglobin?

Normally Hb levels are quoted in mmol/L, g/L, or g/dL, not mmol/mol.

Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) is quoted in mmol/mol. But that is a test for diabetes (and 36 mmol/mol is about normal).

If the units were 36 mmol/L then that equates to 580 g/L which is way above normal.

So I suspect you're giving us an HbA1c result.

Have another look for haemaglobin levels.

Thanks for the help, surgery has now ordered me a blood test, hopefully we will get this sorted out at some point before I reach the age of 100

I can only recall being asked how many blood tests I had had in the previous year (?) and whether I had nerve damage or not.

Wonder what questions others here have been asked by insurers ?
