La Roche’s Prasinezumab (“Passadena”) Trial (BN42358)
Diagnosed with PD two years ago at the age of 48, I guess I’m one of the lucky few to be selected for Roche’s Prasinezumab trial, due to begin this fall. Since my diagnosis, I don’t feel that my symptoms have gotten worse and I’m still able to keep the diagnosis to my inner circle (symptoms: slower

Why I can't increase the dose?
I have noticed over time that my values are below half the range, whether I take, ndt or synthetic. My endo thinks I could increase the dose but I don't feel well if I push the dose over the 125mcg levo(and some T3) or 3grains ndt Thyroid-s. My ft4 and ft3 are less than half. Vits and minerals are ok

Why has B1 as TTDF been Black-Listed by the Research Community?
*** I ended up with High Blood Pressure taking TTFD. I no longer take TTFD. Based on my experience, I would not recommend TTFD. *** Why is there so little reliable data? The only reliable data, I can find is: A sport enhancing study; “Conclusion; TTFD could significantly improve physical activities”

DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE TAKING METFORMIN AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE
I AM A 66-year old female who was in top condition 18 months ago. It was a year before I received the PMR diagnosis and it's been 12 weeks since I've been on prednisone. I've tried to have a good attitude about the pred and to throw all my energy into my health and minimizing its side effects. I've

GP surgery have me in tears again,
Long running saga which sorry for expletives in advance is really getting on my TITS now. You know that feeling when you begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel and some bastard pinches the bulb or forgets to put money in the meter. So I haven' felt 100% for years but you know how women

Lu-177 in Austria - Report and underlining high importance of both FDG and PSMA PET/CTs
I just finished follow up PET/CTs scans 7 weeks after last of three Lu-177 infusion by Prof. Hartenbach in Minute Medical in Austria. Anyone interested in my diagnose and prior treatment choices can find very detailed info in my profile. In the Minute Medical they do Lu-177 infusions every 4 weeks -

Metformin, and Statins, Yet Again
Just when you thought the door was slammed shut on any real benefit of Metformin for APC, it, and statins too, again show there is something of value going on there in this analysis of two trials. mTOR down regulation? Decreasing inflammation? Don’t know. Buy I am one non-diabetic who will keep these

Statin and metformin use and outcomes in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer treated with enzalutamide: A meta-analysis of AF
"The association between statin or metformin use and rPFS, MFS and OS was inconsistent across three trials. Analyses of all three trials pooled and AFFIRM+PREVAIL pooled revealed that statin but not metformin use was significantly associated with a reduced risk of death in enzalutamide-treated patients

Review of Top 10 Prescribed Drugs and Their Interaction with Dental Treatment
Yet another paper which hints at quite a bit - bit then is behind a paywall. If anyone has access, just knowing the outline of what they say could be very interesting. We have had many question the impact of thyroid issues on their teeth and dental treatment. [i]Dent Clin North Am. 2016 Apr;60(2):

Snuffy Myers on Metformin
Well I’d thought I’d throw another log on the fire since my last post seemed to elicit a lot of interest and discussion. I went back in my files and dug up a pretty comprehensive video by Snuffy on why and how to use Metformin. I’m not advocating its use, I’m not a doctor so I’m not qualified to do

Be careful about the studies you see posted on this site
The wonderful thing about this site is we are free to post anything we want within the bounds of civility. But that is also a danger - many people post studies without regard to truth. Truth is judged by the scientific process. Two studies this week illustrate why patients should never use retrospective

More evidence that metformin probably has no effect in prostate cancer
This was among 3,649 women with breast cancer. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2792615 But taken together with all the randomized clinical trials so far among men with prostate cancer, it does increase our skepticism. Here are the RCTs so far for prostate cancer: https://www.prostatecancer.news

What should I ask GP at follow up appointment after blood test ?
Hi, I’m 28 and presumed to have PCOS. Blood tests will confirm. My weight and other symptoms have rocketed in the last few years. I’ve gone from a 26in waist to a 32in. My body shape has totally morphed and it’s the lowest I’ve ever felt about myself. I have been very cautious and aware of my diet etc
