Another clinical trial: GLP1R in Parkinson's Disease (GIPD)
Semaglutide is a synthetic analogue of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP1), which stimulates GLP1 receptors (GLP1R). Stimulation of GLP1R in B-cells in the pancreas potentiates insulin secretion and contribute to blood glucose regulation. In the brain it is known that GLP1R stimulation in the hypothalamus

No more finger pricks. Breath analyser to indicate Blood glucose level!
Good news for all diabetes both T1 and T2. This is a dream come true if you are able to detect your blood sugar by a breath analyser. No more finger pricking, no CGM , no more Dexcom. We will eagerly await for its commercial production and it's affordability. Hope it should be affordable since it is

Does hidden diabetes cause coronary heart disease?

HbA1c Relevance re Pred.
OH had request from Health Centre to see GP on Monday as this last HbA1c came through as 69! Given that it's an average over 3months and Pred can fire off raised spikes of blood glucose levels at random I'm wondering how relevant the reading is - Pred dose at start of period covered was 25mg p.d. - at

Coaguchek XL lancets discontinued
I have a mechanical heart valve and have been self testing my INR since 2012 with a Coaguchek. I have always used the yellow Accu Chek XL lancets, but now they have been discontinued. I have been given white Accu Chek lancets but they have a smaller gauge so they produce less blood. Now I keep getting

T3 and insulin resistance?
I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance (fasting blood glucose and insulin levels in range but close to upper normal limit). Symptoms are difficulty losing weight (I'm overweight), cravings and increased appetite. My doctor suggested Metformin, but I preferred to try a supplement instead and opted

How to save on prescription drug costs?
Does anyone out there have a good reliable med order program or drug plan for prescription meds? I'm a little tenuous on online pharmacies but have found so far that for things like test strips and blood glucose machines (not that I'm needing a new machine, but at least test strips and lancets) are like

Day time sleeping
Some say that diabetic patients should not sleep during day time and engage in some sort of socially useful productive work. If you do more work, your blood glucose will be converted to physical energy. If you sleep during the day, your muscles will be wasted and you don't have deep sleep during night

Baseline predictors for progression 4 years after Parkinson's disease diagnosis in the De Novo Parkinson Cohort
Cardiovascular risk factors, deregulated blood glucose, uric acid metabolism, and inflammation were identified as risk markers for faster disease progression. Our panel of risk parameters needs validation during our continuing follow‐up and also in independent patient cohorts. © 2018 International Parkinson
