Feeling sick all the time
I have had AIH with cirrhosis for many years and was told about 2 years ago that I also have PBC. I have recently started feeling very sick from the time I wake up. I feel as if food would help but it doesn't. I have been taking Ranitidine since an ulcer was discovered in my stomach during a regular

Thiamine deficiency after vsg
Just an FYI. I have been diagnosed with thiamine deficiency, Wernickes Encephalopathy, post vertical sleeve gastrectomy (4 years post op). I also have PA requiring shots every other week and I am receiving IV thiamine also every other week. I have also been diagnosed with chronic iron deficiency anemia

Alkali-reflux problems after full gastrectomy.
Does anyone know ways of dealing with an inflamed oesophagus caused by alkali reflux rather than acid reflux? Does anyone know whether there are surgeons offering a valve replacement between the oesophagus and intestines following a full gastrectomy? Background: My husband had a full gastrectomy

Digital ulcer update
Had fingernail removed 3 weeks ago after 8 months with digital ulcer under nail which would not heal. Procedure done under general anaesthetic, pain afterwards very severe, then a week ago it became infected so on anti biotics. It seems to be improving at last. Not sure what long term effect will be,

Do I have lupus?
Hello, I'm new to the community and hoping someone can advise me on whether they think my symptoms sound like lupus and if I should book a private consultation with a rheumatologist? My GP is not particularly helpful and I’m at loss of what to do. Any advice given would be gratefully received. Thanks

gastroscopy - risk of bleeding?
Hi everybody, My partner has a routine gastroscopy scheduled soon.Last month when he had a gastroscopy, they found no bleeding varices, however two days later he was back in the hospital with ... bleeding varices! Could the bleeding be provoked by gastroscopy? And what use is it in these check ups if he

Taking pred on an empty stomach
I am having both a Gastroscopy and a Colonoscopy on Friday afternoon As I always take my Pred with food, would it be better to miss taking it on that morning on an empty stomach, ? I will also be taking more of the MoviPrep to clear the bowel, not very nice. By the time both procedures are done

Severe Anemia, Now got aching legs and short of breath?
Just wondering if anyone can help? I visited my GP last year as I was feeling tired, no energy, pains in stomach, coughing, and being sick. I was told that I needed to have a blood transfusion as my Haemoglobin was 67 and Serum Ferritin was 1. I walked into A&E no problem and received 2 units of blood

Liver cirrhosis but could be another problem?
Dad, who is 76, was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in October 2015. He has not been eating enough for months and his weight has fallen to 63 kilos. He has been in hospital 5 times since last September. Just before Christmas he had 12 litres of fluid removed from his abdomen (ascites). I have complained

Ongoing hell
I wrote earlier of my husband's problems & the quite shabby treatment, or rather non treatment. He went for a colonoscopy in early October, it couldn't be done because of husband ongoing heart condition. Instead he had to have a endoscopy & CT scan of his bowel. Nothing sinister was found & he was discharged

G.A.V.E.
I recently saw gastroenterologist for results of capsule endoscopy, it showed I have a condition named as G.A.V.E which is bleeding points in stomach, apparently yet another symptom of scleroderma. Am now awaiting a gastroscopy with laser treatment to zap these bleeding points. Has anyone else had

Erosive gastritis and PA. Please advise re diet and medication!
Hi All, I have had PA for about 6 years and had a gastroscopy when first diagnosed. Recent barium swallow showed moderate gastric reflux and recent gastroscopy showed mild erosive gastritis. My GP prescribed Omeprazole which I have started very reluctantly ( side effects look worrying) but it's necessary

IBS Linked With Anxiety?
Hi All Completely new to this forum thing, but here it goes. I'll try and keep it brief. Please take time to read my story, I'm sure there are a lot of people who can relate to me and stop me feeling so alone or that I can help in turn. I've been suffering with IBS type symptoms for 6 months now.

Any other anti coagulant?
In May this year I was advised to take an anti coagulant because of paroxysmal atrial flutter and SVTs. The A flutter has settled well with medication but anti coagulants are proving more difficult. I also have vasculitis. I was first prescribed Apixaban and started taking it in August. This caused

Pains after gastroscopy with Bravo
Hi, I had a gastroscopy with Bravo capsule 2 weeks ago under sedation , they also took some biopsies, I've still got pains in my oesophagus - mainly when I swallow and drink hot drinks. Have just seen a consultant who did it - he suggested to wait another 2 weeks and then have an x-ray. He thinks that
