Positive IFA, Negative Parietal Cell, B-12 injections affect IFA test
Hello, I recently tested positive for intrinsic factor blocking antibody but the result of my parietal cell antibody test was negative. I’m curious if other members have had this same experience? My doctors have suspected a PA diagnosis for several years. An IFA test about five years ago produced

Blood results
HiI'm just looking some advice on recent NHS b12 and folate results: B12 284 (197-779) Folate. 4.6 (3-26) Of course GP receptionist said all 'normal " on phone but I have asked for a print out of results and will pick them up tomorrow. I had asked my GP if I could be tested for intrinsic factor

PPI complications
I've now had my endoscopy. I wanted to find out what state my stomach was in after taking PPIs (Omeprazol) for over 5 years and an H2 Blocker for 15 years before that (the now withdrawn Ranitidine of carcinogenic fame). What the endoscopy revealed were fundic polyps which are 'accepted' as a standard

Vitamins
Hi allI posted here last week my vitamin test results from medichecks. My active B12 and folate were low so as per advice on the forum I have held off supplementing until my GP tests for pernicious anaemia. My mother had PA and I certainly do have some symptoms of B12 deficiency. I'm due to get my bloods

Uncertain PMR or EORA?
Good morning, My first visit to see the Rheumatologist referred by GP and taking Naproxen for three months. Hip pain much better but not doing much walking, shoulders heavy with impaired mobility and last four weeks hands stiff and tight feeling. ESR was 50 in March, 76 in April. CRP was 22 March

interesting find
has anyone tried grass fed beef liver supplements. I’m wondering if these freeze dried capsules would be beneficial because of the vitamins and minerals in them as I don't seem to be able to keep my levels of anything up without supplementing. As soon as I stop they seem to drop again quite quickly ,

Sourcing advice please
Hi I went to my GP in April with this problem. My GP practice give you forms for self booking for Rheumatology at choice of 2 hospitals. Both have no appointments available. I rang and was told 18 to 34 week wait but even then you have to go on a waiting list to get the appointment before that. I booked

PA in a child?
Does anybody have any experience of PA in children? My almost 6 year old daughter has been suffering with mouth ulcers for the past 6 months and I’m just wondering if she might have PA? I was diagnosed at 23 (now 40). My sister, brother and nephew (14) have recently tested positive for intrinsic factor

MMA results - supplements or further test?
Can I ask for your advice please? I have Hashmito’s. Since learning that this can influence the absorption of nutrients, I have been to the doctor’s to request tests. Last B12 test: 229 ng/l (190-910) I used B12 symptoms checklist which suggests severe deficiency. Neither of this seemed to worry

ANA Titre 1:80 with Raynauds and burning hands
Hi, looking for some help and advice from others... Male - Age 39 - slim - mostly fit and well - non smoker I have this year began to experience episodes of Raynauds that appear to be triggered by the cold (but not that cold) weather and also stress/anxiety - so fairly classic stuff. The GP initially

Questions regarding my B12 case (IF, veganism, oral sublingual, and other blood results)
Hi all, My case seems to be a little murky. In 2018 I found out that I had very low B12. I was a vegetarian at that time and for the last 2 years have been vegan. Back in 2018, I began injections which brought my level very high very quickly. At that time I also took my first intrinsic factor test. It

How to fight for treatment?
I felt awful last oct and blood test showed B12 was at 21.6pmol/l so was given 6 loading doses. I went back at their request and was told my B12 levels were in range (obviously) and that was that, no other appointments needed. My intrinsic factor they tested a few weeks later was 2Au which I believe

Antibodies Negative
Hi, Im pretty new to this all. I was feeling extremely weak lethargic, pins and needles etc and my b12 came back pretty low (167) started injections but now the doctor tells me that the test for my antibodies came back negative which means I do not have PA and that they will not do an Intrinsic factor

Intrinsic factor antibody result
Hi all, I've only just seen the result of an Intrinsic Factor Antibody test that was done in December before I started SI which I don't know how to interpret. I got a result of 2 u/ml (reference range is 0-24 u/ml). Is that a positive or a negative result? Does that confirm PA or not? Can someone explain
