PA in a child?

Does anybody have any experience of PA in children?

My almost 6 year old daughter has been suffering with mouth ulcers for the past 6 months and I’m just wondering if she might have PA?

I was diagnosed at 23 (now 40). My sister, brother and nephew (14) have recently tested positive for intrinsic factor antibodies.

Other issues my daughter has are poor concentration and she is long sighted.

Is she too you at this stage to have low B12?

No not too young.Get her b12 and folate and full bloods done at the Gps .

Make sure you keep the results.

One of mine in Hindsight had vague symptoms that young.

Then by 9 getting her checked .

( b12 not done !!)

Long story but finally diagnosed with severe b12/ folate def.

Megobolastic anaemia at ? 22

I doubt long sight a sign 🤔 very common in young children.

Your daughter needs medical investigation, especially as there is a genetic link to Pernicious Anaemia. She is not too young to have the condition . Babies can be born with it . Our problem is that the medical profession has poor knowledge about P.A. Good that you have found this great forum . Best wishes .
