Does anyone know if taking high dose folate and ferritin will affect active b12 test?
Hi, I'm new here. Long story short- I've been sick a while now. I'm 26, and when I was 15 I had my first migraine with aura. Over time I had them more and more, and four years ago I had to stop working because I was having them almost daily. Finally I found out about homocysteine, and begged my doc for

Possible B12 deficiency?
I have a long history of very large and painful mouth ulcers coupled with low ferritin of less than 5, fatigue and very pale skin. I have been given iron infusions to increase my ferritin levels which are now fine however i still have very painful mouth and xtreme fatigue which i am desperate to cure

Blue Horizon Blood tests ?
I'm thinking of having blood tests of B12, Intrinsic factor and cortisol blood tests. If they come back with below range or positive, will my Dr act upon them. Also has anyone had them done and what was your Gp's reaction?

Help, please, post rather befuddled visit to GP.
Intrinsic factor was negative (what are other reasons for B12 deficiency?); TSH down to 0.12 (agreed to do 25ug and 50ug on alternate days, down from straight 50ug, as at last measure it was 0.45); FT4 at 21 which is top end of range. Also had LH and FSH measured (as periods had re-appeared after none

Feeling patronised
As some of you may know from previous posts/questions that I recently saw the rheumatology doctor. He ordered a load more tests and offered the 'diagnosis' of sjorgens serolgy with lupus features. Essentially could be one or other or both but further investigations needed. Treatment has started with

Which blood work and/or criteria was used to diagnose your PBC?
I'm 49, female and my gastroengerologist has quickly made the PBC diagnosis based on positive AMA (84.4 units , pos = >24.9), elevated AST (44, scale of 0-40), ALT (38, scale of 0-32), and high IGM 730 (scale of 40-230). My ALB and BIL are within acceptable range and three separate tests have also shown

Am I being paranoid?
Saw endo, had blood results. Her comments to GP were TSH fine at 0.45, BP fine, need synacthen for adrenals, B12 very low -- please do intrinsic factor test. Just went into the surgery for bloods GP had requested, some of which I knew overlapped with what endo had requested. Said to nurse, all I appear

B12 level and effect on thyroid.
My B12 measurement came back at 148ng/l which the endo notes is low. She's told GP to measure intrinsic factor antibodies as regards pernicious anaemia. Can someone tell me what this means in actuality -- ie, what it means to show a very low B12 measurement and what the physical effects might be? Thanks
