Famotidine

Has anyone been taking Famotidine on a long term badis? My GP has put me on it and I am worried about long term side effects of this medication

and now taking famotidine on its own and not seeing much difference at all. I know I need to give things time but I was wondering if a combination of the 2 would help?

Has anyone had side effects from this drug? I have recently been prescribed this drug and my skin is itching. Just wondered if anyone has had this. Thanks.

I have been on 20mg of Famotidine for about a year, over the past 6 months while taking Famotidine I seem to have developed heartburn has any one else suffered with heartburn while on Famotidine?

I gave up stomach protectors PPI’s and was on Famotidine for a bit but don’t take it now. I take one other BP ( Ramipril) before bed. My question is - should I be taking the famotidine or am I unwittingly storing up trouble. I feel fine and have no stomach issues apart from occasional constipation.

Hello friends, Has anyone been prescribed Famotidine to replace Omeprazole? I’ve been experiencing gut issues for several months now and my gp has suggested a change in H2 antagonist to see if the frequency symptoms resolve.

My GP has changed my medication to Famotidine and it doesn’t seem to be working and l am in pain. I have been on Omeprazole for many years with a hiatus hernia and acid reflux. Thanks.

And Metronidazole along with Famotidine.. Today I feel really jittery and breathless and a rather unpleasant taste in my mouth. Can anyone tell me if it's a reaction to all the meds?

I have a hiatus hernia and taking Famotidine. However that is not my main problem. More and more over the past few years I’ve noticed that when I eat, within a few minutes afterwards, I get terrible mucus in my sinuses that pours down my throat and makes me cough and choke.

I know that PPIs are taboo but what about famotidine and it's cousins? I am in need of something longer lasting than Gaviscon. Thanks.

Meds are as follows: AM:Clopidogrel 75mg; Asprin 75 mg; Diltiazem SR 90 mg; Famotidine. PM: Diltiazem SR 90mg; Atorvastatin 80 mg (dropped for 2weeks) Any ideas?

Hi I was diagnosed with Silent Reflux 3 years ago and after trying several PPIs ended up on Famotidine which I took for several months and altered my diet no coffee, dairy plain food, small meals etc. This stopped the constant sorr throat - I didn’t have any sort cough even when diagnosed.

Currently on Famotidine which seems to work most of the time, but I’m curious if anyone has ever tried any probiotics to compliment modern medicine, and had positive results? If so, which probiotic did you find that worked for you?

I’ve tried omeprazole without much luck and have recently started famotidine, but I’m still having flare-ups. I was wondering if anyone here has anything similar and could share their experiences? What symptoms do you deal with, and how do you manage them?

Some of the time I can tell myself that the doctors cleared my artery, and I am on the usual meds (anti-platelet, beta blocker, famotidine to protect my stomach from the anti-platelet and statins), so the risk of another heart attack should be low.

does anyone on here take famotidine when taking steroids instead of omeprazole,and do they have any side effects.Also has anyone tried to get g.p. to prescribe enteric coated 1mg preds when having to take 4 a day.thankyou.x

My doc is now adding famotidine at night to my meds but is it ok to take all these meds? I have a lot of stress in my life and wondered if this has caused a flare_up. I'm terrified to eat but feel worse when I'm hungry. I despair sometimes as now I cant even go out with friends for a meal.
