RE iron tablet recommendations
Hi again I have to get my iron levels up.. I have one perscription from my GP for 305 mg Caps Ferrous fumurate (but when I go to the pharmacies here they only have Galfer which has sooo many horrible ingredients, some of which have been banned in Australia, some euro countries)... And my private Endo

Testing for Intrinsic Factor - borderline results
Hello to you all on this precious platform, thank you for saving my sanity on many occasions. I was diagnosed with pernicious anemia 10 years ago. My elder sister, following a lengthy battle with her GP was diagnosed a couple of years ago and given loading doses followed by 8 week top-ups. We both

Iron blood test - definitive list
I got my recent blood test back, haven’t yet posted all results to my profile, but my ferritin was rock bottom (7 out of 7-271 range) so I’m going to get a full iron test before I share all the numbers here and decide my next med change. What should I ask for: Iron Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC

Chillblains
I have SLL and recently have had a few occurrences of Chillblains, my son is a Consultant Haematologist and tells me haematological malignancy is a common link and this paper links it to SLL, https://bmcdermatol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12895-015-0032-z. I can cope with this keeping hands

FINALLY found a scientific study that supports my theory about Brain Iron and Serum Iron. Finally!!!
First, the relevant quote from the article: “The serum iron concentration was significantly higher in the RLS group than in the control group, but remained within normal ranges in both groups. In this study, there was a significant correlation between serum and CSF iron concentrations, both in the RLS

Hello I am hoping to start a new medication after being on Rituxumab for a few years. Blood checks all ok , but had to have a Chest X-Ray as not had one done for a while, so recently had this done and assumed it would be ok. In work on Friday, and i get a text to say I've been booked an appointment

I was diagnosed with PMR in June 2014. Over a period of about 7 years I managed to come off prednisone but after a time the PMR returned. Since 2022 I have managed to get down to 7mg daily and then have a flare. Back to 10 down to 8 and another flare. I live in France and it seems PMR is not as common

Any tips for Natural Modified FET (boost lining)?
Hi everyone, I have a persistent thinnish lining (around 6 to 7mm) after an episode of abnormal bleeding between periods (turned out to be silent endo and a polyp that did not show up on ultrasound). Before that, 11mm was my average. After failing a recent FET, my doctor decided to monitor my lining

b12 iron relationship?
Hi friends…I was diagnosed with a b12 deficiency in June, which is thankfully improving with injections (I had horrible neuro symptoms). I had my iron tested twice over the summer, both well in the good range (over 100). However, this week I had an iron panel showing my iron is 40 (literally the bottom

Pneumonia
Hi. I had my follow up chest x-ray for pneumonia 3 weeks ago and the good news is that it's come back clear. I'm really pleased but I'm still coughing at night and feel a bit breathless in the mornings. I told the doctor when he rang me with the results and he said, the infection has gone but lungs take

High B12 - more tests needed?
My SO has several anaemia symptoms - pallor, breathlessness, fatigue, dizziness, nausea etc. GP says the bloodwork is OK despite family history of PA. Blood tests (GP & Medichecks) so far show haemoglobin & MCH a bit below range, haematocrit & MCH low but in range. Serum B12 is consistently high (latest

Folic Acid does not cause PA
I saw this article with responses about the consumption of folic acid. What do people think about the responses? Especially the one who says that there shouldn't be a limit to the amount of folic acid taken. https://www.bmj.com/content/329/7479/1376/rapid-responses I have been taking 5mg folic acid

Hello All,We went through our first cycle of IVF in Jan and we are planning our next round in July. The first round we went in very naively and rather blind in terms of body/mind preparation. I have tried to guide myself as much as I can but I wondered what you could add to what I am doing. I am on

Iron deficiency
Hello I’m asking a question with regards to low ferritin levels (17.4). I’m confused whether I should be prescribed folic acid or iron?!

So girding my loins, GP's in morning,
So have an appointment with GP at 11 am tomorrow. Now this was supposed to be about pain/discomfort ? RA. Of course they are bit sneaky and lots of other tests were included, but we aren't daft are we, we check first. So Thyroid bloods , TSH 0.01 (0.27-4.20) FT4 21.6 (12-22) as usual no FT3

Results Advice
Hi I’m looking for some advice on my recent bloods please, since my last test I dropped my levo back to 100mg a day and increased my lio by 5mg so I’m a little confused as to why my T3 has dropped🤷‍♀️the only thing I can think of is that I’ve been using Morningside lio for my 10mg dose in the morning
