Does anyone have any info whether Interferon is contraindicated if you have a history of PE or other thrombolytic event ?
My platelets have constantly been rising -They are now 1,300,000 My haematologist commenced me on anagrelide 4 weeks ago but platelets still rising She has increased my anagrelide but said she would like to change me on to pegasys interferon but is a bit wary as I have had a large Pulmonary

Steroids and facing a big operation
The complicating factor is that l had a heart attack on December 28th followed by a diognosis of pulmonary
embolism
so l am now taking warfarin and ticagrelor (an anti platelet drug) and l will have to stop both a few days before the operation to prevent me from having a serious bleed.

I'm new here. Hi.
In 2004 I had a minor op but had a Pulmonary
Embolism
afterwards. 6 months of warfarin later was all clear. Last week I had to have another minor op and have had another PE. I am now on Rivaroxaban for 6 months at least. What should have been a day case op turned into a week in hospital!

Could I be hypo?
This all started 3 years ago, after surviving massive pulmonary
embolism
. It means I've been able to get a lot of blood tests, but the docs can't find any reason for the ongoing problems. They are about ready to say it's CFS/ME... but I'm hoping to have something treatable.

Last year when my platelets were raised we were away for my big 50th birthday in Barbados & whilst on holiday my GP called me to say after speaking to a haematologist they thought it would be a good idea to start me on aspirin before I was referred to the specialist as my platelets were at 834. Ablation - Caused Pulmonary Embolism
What I did not realize is that the cough I was developing and pain in my chest was from a lung
embolism
that had me rushed to the ER 2 weeks post ablation. Fighting that scary problem now with blood thinning agents Warfarin and Lovenox shots. ER docs said the surgery caused the

Hi. I had unprovoked pulmonary embolisms 3 years ago, and was put on a recently NICE approved anticoagulant Rivaroxaban . Much better than warfarin or aspirin I was told. But now that Ive been diagnosed with ET/MF. ( which I think I likely had at the the time, bur no none looked for it) Ive noticed

Anyone with DVT not related to flying, sitting or cancer
Hi, I am new here, but recently had DVT in thigh, no long flights, fairly mobile, walk everyday. Cancer was mentioned at hospital then dismissed and HRT given as the cause. According to NHS website 1 in 10 of all people diagnosed with a DVT out of the blue will have an undetected cancer. My GP not

New here, but worried
Hi recently diagnosed with DVT, GP is not doing tests for cancer as suspects it was my HRT. I do not feel happy about him just assuming it is this, especially as have just read that 1 in 10 new DVT's is due to a cancer which you do not realise you have. Has anyone here with a DVT had the tests and

Should I take my anticoagulant?
Just got back from hospital after an emergency visit for an acute infection in my tear duct (lump the size of a golf ball). I have to go back tomorrow to get it drained, which will involve a small incision under local anaesthetic. I am already on antibiotics. FIrst saw a junior doctor whose treatment

Effect of Pulmonary Embolism
I had a DVT 20 months ago following surgery, this then caused a PE. I was treated with Rivaoxiban and told to wear compression stockings for two years which I have done. I go to the gym on a regular basis but dont seem to have the lung capacity I used to have. Does the PE have a longterm effect on
