Neurology, Oxycodone, and only two days until I finally give up Ropinirole!
Hello all I’ve not been able to post earlier as I was without Internet access for three weeks – what did we do before we had it!!! I am now down to 0.25mg Ropinirole. I’m glad I didn’t keep reducing when I was coming up to the concert (which went well enough!). But reduced that night and again six

Alternative treatments for RLS.
Hi mtm19,Tim61, I posted recently about withdrawing from Pramipexole, which I’m doing at the moment, not very nice. My GP eventually discovered I was suffering with myoclonic jerks, not restless leg syndrome. I saw him yesterday’ & he has agreed to try keppra ( levetiracetam) 250mg at night. I took

Wellbutrin/bupropion?
I took SSRs for about 10 years before I switched over to bupropion. I since learned SSRs increase RLS symptoms, but at the time I switched because of adverse sexual side effects. In any case, bupropion works by increasing the brains capacity to absorb dopamine. I have been taking it in the morning

Dopamine
Are there any studies that show dopamine levels effect RLS symptoms?

Mucuna Puriens
Was just reading a post from the Parkinsons Movement side of Health Unlocked regarding the use of Mucuna root. I took myself off of Mirapex and use Mucuna Puriens for my dopamine needs, Valerian Root and melatonin for sleep. Anyone else using supplements rather than pharma y?

Dopamine diet
Sue (Mrs WTP) found a dopamine diet recipe book. Delicious! She can cook that again. Served with roasted organic sweet potato, carrots and Brussels sprouts. Bring on the dopamine

U.S. TV show Chicago Med.
If you watch it and haven't seen the Dec 5th episode, stop reading :) A lady was brought in the ER after stabbing an intruder in her home. Long story short, it was her husband who she she didn't recognize. Upon farther investigation it was discovered she was on a medicine that was a Dopamine ,not

Which therapy helped you the most?
Can people say which of these helped them the most? I don't think there's an option for adding a poll. Dopamine agonists: These are most often the first medicines used to treat RLS. These drugs, including pramipexole (Mirapex), rotigotine (Neupro), and ropinirole (Requip), act like the neurotransmitter

I need help ☹️
Hi, I’m a new member and have been suffering with RLS since childhood, I’m now 42 and I honestly think it can’t get worse than this. My symptoms were only in my legs up until about two years ago and then it spread to my arms too. It affects every bloody inch of my life!! I have always tried to stay away

Excessive sleepiness
Hi friends My mother who is 75 was diagnosed with PD in 2004. She was on Syndopa plus 4 a day for past 4 years (with no major symptoms) , untill few months back when she started feeling extreme fatigue. Her neurologist increased her dosage to 5 and half tables in a day and a syndopa CR in the night.

Thanksgiving and a Question
I thank God for this website every day since I found it. I was at my lowest of low points with RLS this summer. I had to take a leave of absence from my teaching job. I was going through augmentation and withdrawl from requip at the same time.My doctors at Johns Hopkins were not helping. They didnt

Ropinirole withdrawal: is it always agony?
I have PLMD, which developed from RLS some 6 years ago. I've been on Ropinirole for 3 months at a dosage of 2 x 0.25 mg a night. It's just beginning to lose its effect with PLMs occurring at night 1 hour plus after taking the tablets & now an hour or so before the 6-hour half-life is through in the early

All Of Me
All of me.... Why not take all of me.... Are you singing the song too? Forgive my break from formality. Today, I just need to open up. Disability insurance will not cover FND as a viable claim for medical disability/Leave of absence. I need that coverage to protect me on days this condition drives

Does Exercise Actually Increase Dopamine?
"Some evidence suggests that, like levodopa, exercise may exert some of its effects by increasing dopamine. A recent study of 17 Parkinson’s patients used positron emission tomography (PET) scans of the brain before and after stationary cycling. Results showed that habitual exercisers in this group —

Taking iron for RLS; Requip better than Mirapex?
I'm a newer member, but have had RLS for about 30 years. My GP agrees with daily iron supplements that I take with Vitamin C (per information I read on this forum). My ferritin level is 76 and I have learned from this group that it needs to be 100. So I feel like I am making progress to treat the RLS

Grateful for this Forum (continued)
Other info I've learned on this forum, for which I'm grateful: I refused a prescription for a dopamine agonist and tossed out a prescription for Wellbutrin after what I've read on here about augmentation AND other research, which suggested that Wellbutrin can increase insomnia---the very last thing this

Grateful for this Forum
Hello, I haven't posted on here much, mostly read others' comments. I'm grateful to all of you for numerous reasons. Because of what I've learned here, I was able to say "no" to my doctor when she suggested I take a dopamine agonist. Based on your comments, I've apparently spared myself the agony
