Body movements just need a 'puff' of dopamine to get started
Body movements just need a 'puff' of
dopamine
to get started. A new study in mice suggests that a burst of
dopamine
levels at the beginning of a movement only, as opposed to all the time, is what gets us going; this may have important implications for treating Parkinson's disease.

N-Acetyl cysteine (NAC) Another interesting supplement.
The wonderful aspect of this supplement is that it has a human study to go along with it's animal research: N-Acetyl Cysteine May Support

Hi all, I'm looking to buy wellbutrin for its NDRI/
dopamine
boosting function, its not really prescribed by UK GPs and Psychiatrists definitely consider it a non-standard, off-label med, so I've got a very slim chance of being prescribed it.

Rasagiline, azlect
But I am taking rasagiline as my dr says it protects my
dopamine
. Any opinions about that? I’m also taking SAMe for ease in joints and some macuna powder in my breakfast foods. Thanks, janet

If a
dopamine
agonist is suspected it must be tapered if it has been used for any length of time. Orthostatic hypotension is not true dizziness but rather "lightheadedness".

Jerky movements during sleep
I am new here. I joined this group as my 4 years old son has been diagnosed with epilepsy on September 2017. He has 2 seizures and was put on Depakine (300mg/ day). I usually put him to sleep and I noticed that he has jerky movements. It happens during the first 10 minutes of his sleep - is this a sign

Confused by surprising test results - Please help?
A functional medicine practitioner put me on gigantic doses of tyrosine (3000 mg daily) in an attempt to raise my
dopamine
level. I recently read that people with hypothyroid should not take tyrosine (so I'm now trying to taper off)!

6 years of not smoking
I do need to keep up my
dopamine
levels though: exercise and yoga does it for me. I get my "chemical fix" from yoga. I quit smoking with Champix - the Champix didn't stop the cravings completely, but it did take the edge away.

It should be noted that vitamin B6 facilitates the action of peripheral
dopamine
-decarboxylase. Since Madopar and Sinemet contain strong inhibitors of the peripheral decarboxylase it is rare that vitamin B6 produces negative effects.

If you are taking a stimulant medication and are getting negative side effects or feel the medication has stopped working like it used to...
Different supplements help bring back up those depleted neurotransmitters (
Dopamine
, Serotonin, and Norepinephrine) (differences among those vary depending on the stimulant med) and also help your body and brain fight and heal itself from continuous stimulant use.

Is sugar the world’s most popular drug?It eases pain, seems to be addictive and shows every sign of causing long-term health problems.
The more we use these substances, the less
dopamine
we produce naturally in the brain. The result is that we need more of the drug to get the same pleasurable response, while natural pleasures, such as sex and eating, please us less and less.

Taking supplements in combination with ADHD stimulant medication is very beneficial, but there is another important detail to adhere
After taking stimulant medication for around 6 months or more, the neurotransmitters the stimulant medication helps out with (
Dopamine
, Serotonin, Norepinephrine) will start to deplete, which is why negative side effects start popping up, like irritability, apathy, and feeling like the medication is
