RLS runs in families?
Something to do with
dopamine
and iron? Antidepressants like citalopram and sertraline made it much worse- kicking legs! Anyhow my 16 year old daughter has developed a problem for about 12 months with very itchy legs and she is scratching them like mad. It's stopping her sleeping.

Alcohol, PD, and brain cell death
in an otherwise "healthy" patient cause further brain cell damage piled on top of the
dopamine
, serotonin, melatonin regulating brain cell loss already suffered? If by diagnosis, we have lost as much as 80% of
dopamine
cells, as they say, does moderate drinking after that kill off even more?

Poorly mind
Could be the lost
dopamine
feedback. That's what they say. Things lie unrequited. The violin, the pottery, the enamelling, the pond, the sports car. Tools and things that came with me when I downsized. I've replaced the stolen electric bicycle with a better one but it's wrong. Feels too big.

Psychogenic Movement Disorders
There are clinical clues that can lead to the correct diagnosis, and laboratory testing with clinical neurophysiology or DAT (
dopamine
transporter) scanning can be helpful as well.

Dopamine
, a key neurotransmitter in PD, has an acute inhibitory effect on TSH secretion. This effect occurs only during the first 2 h following intake. However, this inhibitory effect CAN BE LARGER IN PATIENTS WITH PD than healthy subjects.’’

Mesocarb
It has been found to act as a selective
dopamine
reuptake inhibit and is less potent and slower-acting but longer-lasting than dextroamphetamine. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesocarb

Parkinson’s or Hypothyroidism?
However,
dopamine
replacement (levodopa and or mucuna pruriens) seem to worsen my symptoms, especially stiffness. So, not taking any meds for a few months now. After recently reading that Hypothyroidism symptoms are very similar to mine, I asked my GP to get tested.

Augmentation from domaine agnostics
I have been on
dopamine
agonists for 7 years and NEUPRO for the last 5, starting at 2mg and progressing to 4mg and experienced serious augmentation starting late 2017. I am being treated by a sleep specialist at USF and she has me on a plan to wean off them.

Augmentation
My withdrawal from
DOPAMINE
Agonists continues. I was on 6mg but would leave prior days patch on so that increased my dosage. Before that I was on Requip 2 mg twice a day for 2004. I am now down to 2 mg. Had two awful nights in a row. Not going back to three mgs. Being strong.

I have still a lot to learn, want to understand better about the
dopamine
, epinephrine connection. I watched the recommended video about how to explain ADHD and wondered if it was geared more for ADHD rather than ADD, since she spoke so fast.

I have tried all the
dopamine
agonists and really don’t want to go back on to them because of the side effects. I am on 150 grammes of Lyrica and 150 grammes of Tramadol, but this is no longer working, not to speak of the weight gain. Any advice gratefully received.

Pregabalin side effects or RLS?
My consultant decided not to try
dopamine
agonists as she thought I would get augmentation, so put me on Pregabalin starting at 25mg and increasing to 100mg. It has now been seven weeks and I have another three weeks until I see the consultant again for review.

The 5 WHYs and Parkinson’s
1.1.1A Because of a shortage of
dopamine
in the midbrain (but it’s not just about
Dopamine
) 1.1.2 WHY is there a shortage? (or GO TO 1.3.1A) 1.1.3A Because dietary amino acids aren’t converted into l- dopa which in turn gets converted to
Dopamine
1.1.4 WHY are they not converted?

And now for the good news
Dopamine
type I receptors have many features which are the exact opposite of
dopamine
type 2 (D2) and 3 (D3) receptors in the spinal cord.
